Well, asking for more hasn't necessarily cost him anything.  Yet.

But now he's got a SB-winning QB, who's been better, who just may have reset the market.  Now it gets complicated and where does LJ slot relative to Hurts?  $45M per year?  $160M guaranteed?  If an agent would take 5-10% off the top, LJ might actually end-up close to breaking even representing himself.

Sirius XM was discussing this on my way home. They said Burrow & Herbert would "definitely" get more and Lamar "probably" would. Gives the Rats a bit more wiggle room to pry him away from his supposed guaranteed contract demands.

Interesting.  I think I look at it from the perspective that LJ has been hurt the last few years, and Hurts just went to a SB.  To me, the Hurts contract seems like a pretty definite ceiling for LJ.

Agreed that Burrow and Herbert will get more.  And they should.  The problem with LJ is he's already getting to the point where his legs could be shot in a few years, and then is he still an elite QB without the running ability?  Absolutely not.

I laughed when your boy (Ben) dissed Lamar by saying "nobody feared him when he's in the pocket." I may not like Roethlisberger but he's not wrong.

I’m not rooting against LJ but I also don’t really care what he gets paid.

You get paid what the organization feels you are worth to them.

Any chance the organization doesn’t want him but doesn’t want to be out front and say it for different reasons?

Not a fan of the Ravens but as an organization…seems like they have done things very well not long after they entered the league. Hard to question thrm much.

Eagles just signed Hurts to an extension after, I believe, year 3. Bills did the same with Josh Allen. When a team is 100% sold on their franchise QB they are typically going to get out in front of things and lock that QB up as soon as they are eligible. The Rats didn't do that with Lamar. I think that says a lot despite what they are saying publicly. Whether they do want to keep him, or not, the longer this drags on the more valuable Lamar is going to think he is.

Also, I believe that it's very possible that the Rats owner, Steve Bischotti (sp?), doesn't have the money to put in escrow to pay Lamar a guaranteed contract. Think that's a big reason that the Bengals sold the naming rights to Paul Brown Stadium...as a money grab so Mike Brown could scrounge up the money for the huge amount he's going to need to put in escrow for Burrow. Locking up Chase, to go with Burrow, will be a whole other issue.

Maybe a good call on Burrow thought. I’ve thought all along the Ravens don’t want to go with Lanar

Don’t like that it’s a 1th next season for just playing 65% of snaps but whatever. It’s done.

Jets kind of got taken in that deal but they needed a legit QB.

If he plays 2 seasons I have no issues with the deal. If he retires after this season it was a pretty shitty trade for the Jets.

Either way, this season should be fun.

If it’s the 32nd pick then IDGAF I’ll probably be dead from celebrating too hard.

if the jets don't immediately come out winning, the drama rodgers brings coupled with the NYC market will overwhelm the team and they'll finish .500ish.

if i weren't lazy, i'd find the O/U on Jets win this season and bet the under

at best, i think he'll rise them up to wildcard team.

NYC Media is overhyped, imo. Buncha nerds for the most part.

But yeah, this could easily backfire on the Jets. Still worth the risk. The defense is very good. Top 5 potential. The offense has promise with GW and Breece Hall as studs and a solid supporting cast. Oline is a question but Aaron gets rid of the ball quickly and probably makes an average line look decent. I have a lot of optimism but understand that the Jets are a cursed franchise and this is likely to blow up in their faces.

Also the line on FanDuel is 9.5 wins.

Over -134

Under +110

I'm comfortable with those odds. I threw $50 at the under.

Good luck I hope you lose. Barring injury I think 11 wins is the floor but it’s probably 50/50 his arm falls off anyway so it’s a good bet on your part.

The max they can get scheduled is 5 games but could get the 6th if a late season game gets flexed.

I can see Eagles, Chiefs, Bills, and Cowboys (Thanksgiving) for sure. Maybe Miami?
