Heart says OSU. Head says Bama.
Won't be surprised either way.
Figured I'd start up a new thread since we lost the old one during the transition.
Seems like Clemson, Oklahoma, and Georgia should be locked in.
Ohio State and Alabama are fighting for the last spot. Kinda figured USC might be in the conversation also, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
Any final thoughts before the selection show at noon?

It should be Ohio State. Bama shouldn't benefit from a weak schedule. Yes, OSU had the 30 point loss to Iowa, but that was one game they fucked up. Bama's entire schedule is fucked up outside of Auburn and even that isn't looking like a great loss anymore.
The committee likes wins and OSU has 3 of them better than Bama's best. Bucks in, Bama out.
I do agree that Ohio State has a better set of wins. Wisconsin and Penn State are Top 10 wins, MSU is probably Top 15. Bama's best win (LSU) isn't as good as any of those. Remember, LSU lost by like 30 to Mississippi State also.
Bama wasn't all that impressive against the best teams they faced either. Lost to Auburn, struggled offensively against LSU, were fortunate to beat Miss State. The Iowa loss is really a huge stike against Ohio State, though, so I'm not sold that they're in simply because of that.
It annoys me that everyone compares Bama 2017 to OSU 2016 though. Ohio State had three Top 10 wins last year, including a road win over Oklahoma. Bama does not have a resume like that. I also find it funny that Saban was so insistent lasr year that a team that doesn't win its conference shouldn't be in, but he's singing a different tune this time around. Meanwhile, Urban was talking last year about how he was surprised that OSU got in over Penn State and felt bad for PSU.
I just wish there was another team deserving (wish USC had only 1 loss) to make it easy, and both Alabama and OSU get snubbed. Between the 2, I can get both arguments, but I just hate to see Alabama get in as a non-conference champ... but it is the committee's fault for putting tOSU in there last year as a non-champ, so they kinda set precedent.
My opinion is that neither are deserving.
I made the attempt to develop a point system for myself which awards varying points for the quality of wins and subtracts for losses. For me, it came out to a push between tOSU and roll damn tide. If I were a committee member, I'd go with the leage champion for the spot.

I agree 100%. I would like to see a USC vs Ohio State match up just to see which conference is better this year.
I'm not saying that Bama fans are pedophiles but Roy Moore wants Bama in the playoff.

UNLV beat Fresno State, which makes it even better. One of Alabama's "good wins" lost to the worst team on Ohio State's schedule.
I'm not surprised. You can't lose to Iowa by 31 and get in.
Such a joke. Bama played NOBODY and got in.
I was very clear when OSU lost by 31 to iowa there was not a scanrio they could get in.
Lose by 31 to Iowa and this is what happens.
I get that the principle is the same. One loss, no conference championship, but the resumes of 2017 Bama and 2016 OSU are NOT fucking close. That's my only gripe.

They didn't lose to a 7-5 team by 31. End of story. Same reason PSU couldn't get in over OSU last year.
