Saw "2001: A Space Odyssey" (1968) the other night - 7/10
Fifty years later, it's lost its luster. I can still appreciate the cinematography, SFX, and lush soundtrack, but it seems nothing more than a museum art piece nowadays. I can't fault Kubrick too much, Arthur C. Clarke's book was not written to be easily portrayed on the big screen, particularly the ending.
On the other hand, the sequel "2010" was a much more cohesive film that is still compelling today. One day I'd like to see "Childhood's End" on the big screen, but I shudder to think what the screenwriters would change it into.
