"You know, I've often thought about becoming a golf club."

"Sit down, come on!"  "No, no, I don't wanna stick to anything in here."

Saw "2001: A Space Odyssey" (1968) the other night - 7/10

Fifty years later, it's lost its luster.  I can still appreciate the cinematography, SFX, and lush soundtrack, but it seems nothing more than a museum art piece nowadays.  I can't fault Kubrick too much, Arthur C. Clarke's book was not written to be easily portrayed on the big screen, particularly the ending.

On the other hand, the sequel "2010" was a much more cohesive film that is still compelling today.  One day I'd like to see "Childhood's End" on the big screen, but I shudder to think what the screenwriters would change it into.

Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri - 9/10

Gotta know what you’re getting into with McDormand, Rockwell and Harrelson, they don’t make typical movies. And this surely isn’t typical, but it’s very deserving of the praise.

Saw this last night with the wife, I would go 8/10. Great story, really wish they would have subtitled a few times the Afghans were talking amongst themselves. Although, I understand the reason why was to leave the audience as much in the dark as the soldiers were so you feel what they felt. But still at times a minute or more of dialogue with no subtitles was difficult.

Overall the movie was really good though.

Yeah ya wish you could know what was said and they do this to a lot of those movies, i.e. lone survivor but as you stated its likely done to portray how frustrating it can be working alongside someone you just do not know what they are saying.  Even with a terp it gets very tedious and it seems like you get very little done.

15:17 to Paris.

1/8.

Woulda gave it a 0 if it weren't for the heroic act.

Act of Valor was able to get away with using real service members as they were doing their jobs for the most part.

This movie, pun intended, was an absolute train wreck.   If I didn't know what was going to happen at the end I may have walked out of the theatre.

Haven't seen a movie this bad in years.

Watched Titanic last night with our 11 year old daughter.  She loved it.  I hadn't seen it since it came out 20 years ago.  It has held up pretty good.  I remember being sick of hearing about it at the time.  But it is actually a pretty good film.  The special effects are really good considering how long ago the film was made.

I noticed it on tonight ...6 to 10:30, no thanks

Lol...no. Her name is Molly Bloom. Jeremy Bloom was the skier and NFL player as her brother.

Ha.  Way off.   Imagine watching skiing last night with him commentating stuck in my mind.

Didn't hurt whom they cast for her part though

Saw "Black Panther" last evening. It's obviously pretty overhyped, and nowhere near the "cultrural milestone" that it's being reviewed as.

Still, it's very good...I'd have it in the top 1/3 of the Marvel catalog for sure.

My buddy said it was tremendous, but wished MBJ had been Black Panther and not the villain. But said probably the 2nd/3rd best villains in comic book movies, which makes it breaks them.

I’ll probably catch it this week.
