Whoa

I've been saying this for weeks. There is nothing good about Titos lineups right now. Yesterday we had 5 hits, all singles. 4 of them were from 3 guys he refuses to give ABs to. Instead sticking with Rosario in the 2-hole who will not be with the team next year (and maybe not past the deadline).

They have the worst SLUGGING since like 1976...

And the pitching has been decent.

Fry with a drive to the track and a hit. Arias with a hit and good ABs. Freeman with 2 hits. And Straw with a hit. That was it last game. So, we roll out there with Naylor at 5 and Rosario 2 instead of Fry and Freeman?? Fry who mashed lefties for Naylor who is like career .109 hitter vs lefties is fucking abominable managing.

Valera I am fine with waiting a month since hes only been healthy for 1 game. Give him some time.

Naylor should be up when you look at what the fuck we trot out behind the plate. Rocchio I guess same, but Arias would need to go down. Id prefer to see what we have with him over an extended period. Rosario should absolutely be dealt after his next multi-hit game. Freeman needs to be playing everyday as well.

It sounds like Dusty Baker with the Reds (and his managerial career)….but it was always just brushed away and ok.

Don’t miss it.

I remember those threads.

I feel the Indians never really had this type of depth in the minors, while also in contention with current vets. So we have never been through it. Typically, it was, we are AWFUL, so let these kids stay in minors for half a year and buy an extra year of eligibility. Or, we are fucking GREAT, so lets choose which one we want to trade for Andrew Miller, etc.

This is such a weird limbo. But the vets aint getting it done, so MOVE ON. They almost all have options remaining as well. So if it goes to shit, bring 'em back up lol.

I forget the rules for years of major league service, but that could be a reason to wait on bringing up Naylor.

I don’t understand all of the rules either, but just put the best players out there. Don’t need to be treated like the A’s.

It’s passed. You wait 2 weeks, you are good. 172/187 days counts as a year. Anything less, you’d get another year before arbitration. So unless we are waiting until next year, it makes no sense.

…caveat is you wait in case you have to send them down again.

Current pitching staff doesn't have the chops to break in a rook catcher.

That was a really nice and much needed win tonight.

The alternative is the worst catcher in baseball, or a .050 hitter.

Seems that they're sticking with the alternative for now. Probably make a change once the pitching staff is back to or near "full strength", particularly the starting rotation. An all rookie battery isn't the way to go.

We will be throwing 3 rookies by the end of June. Bibee and Allen aren’t going anywhere. Williams is the best of them all and won’t be in AAA much longer. 101, with plus slider/curve plays immediately in MLB. Naylor has more experience with all of them, tbh, makes more sense to throw him out there.

Our catchers are 0/45 this month. But please tell me again that keeping Naylor down is somehow good for this team.
