posted by justincredibleWhat kinda lighter are you all using? I'm using a crappy single flame torch lighter my brother in law gave me that only works half the time. Or a long bic lighter. Looking to pick up a decent double torch lighter, kinda liking the Xikar Allume right now but hate the price. I've found a few decent deals on ebay, so I may go that route and get it for half-ish price.
This Lighter It is a 4 torch burner with a punch cutter built in. I don't smoke torpedos, so I'm a big punch cut fan.

I don't know what the Allume runs. My Xikar Resource I was like $90, which felt stupid, except all Xikars come with lifetime warranties, so if you look at it as the last lighter you ever need to buy, it makes it sting a lot less.
I do keep a cheap little Ronson torch, though, just in case the Xikar runs out of butane, or in the event that I do ever need to use the warranty (though I haven't yet, and I'm about eight years in).
I bought this lighter because it was cheap and had all 5-star reviews. In the end it will likely just live with my travel humidor and I'll spend a little more on a nice Xikar. The Allume has an MSRP of $80 (dual torch) but can be had for much cheaper, especially if you don't mind branding printed on it.

Nice!
Shoot, who cares about branding if it does the job?

I bought a cheap punch that I generally like. I like that the lighter I bought has one built in.
Enjoyed a Nub Cameroon tonight. I'll pick up more of those.

I used to get annoyed at the size.
Then, when I wanted a cigar, but only had half an hour, I understood.
Plus, they're good smokes, generally.
I've got 4 table lighters. Didn't buy them, but won them at cigar events. Left my nice xicar lighter in Colorado back in May. I do have a Lotus that lights a soft flame or a single torch depending on which you choose.
Having an Alec Bradley Nica Puro Rosado at this time. Didn't win any cigars last week, won some swag. (Hat, shirt, backpack) Tonight features Oliva Cigars so hopefully I'll win some sticks.
I did win a box tonight. I usually do win when Oliva is there. Oliva Serie V Liga Especial 5x54. 24 count box. Gave all but 9 away to friends at the event. Another person at our table won a box of 10 of the Melanio so I got one of those.

Nice. I'm gonna make it to one of these events soon.
Wish I lived close enough to do the same.
Tonight was Crowned Heads. They presented their Juarez blend. Only about 20 stores have them since they came out. My buddy bought a box of them. Had one and it was nice.. .I didn't win shit...lol

link is dead. what lighter did you end up with?
Yea, link fail....
Talked to Jack Torano on Thursday at cigars. (Google that name) Met him a couple of years ago at Jungle Jim's. Very nice guy. In fact every 'big wig' I've met at cigar events have been cool. Well Jonathon Drew was kinda full of himself, but would take the time to talk to you...or about himself.

Talk is cheap...lol.
Honestly I'll let you know when they are going to open their dedicated cigar building. I'm thinking it will be September and they will have a huge cigar event to kick it off. You will be welcomed at our table(s).
In the mean time Justin, if you are still on Twitter, DM me your digits. I'm not sure how to post pics here any more, so I'll let you post them...no Homo.
So, by all accounts two Boveda packets should have been perfect for my 40-50 stick humidor.
I started with 69% packets, and every time I opened my humidor it dropped 1%.
After appearing to settle @64-65%, I upgraded to 72% packets. Same thing, every time I opened my humidor it dropped 1% and seemed to stick at @65%.
Then I tried 75% packets. Would not budge off 65% humidity. So I added a third packet, and it rose pretty quickly to 70%. It's settled a tick above that for over a day (without being opened). My humidor doesn't leak, but Boveda says it's packets often maintain 5-6% below stated levels. Whatever, hopefully this is a stable workout.
On a related note, given that my humidor was probably @64-65%....I had same wrappers cracking when I cut them, still cracking even with a hole punch. Some seemed to be a bit dry and smoke a little hot.
I mention it only because you read some preferences for 65% as being more flavorful/richer. You wouldn't expect 65% vs. 70% to matter, but I could notice a difference. 65% could be superior for long-term storage, but you might always want 70% equilibrium before smoking. I have no idea.

Yeah, looks like the lighter is no longer available in any capacity at amazon. I tried finding something similar but couldn't. It's a basic 2 flame torch with punch and Cohiba branding.
