I think it's hilarious how Artest gets so much credit too. Wasn't he brought in to be a physical defender for guys like LeBron? Did everyone else witness LeBron play Artest's style of physical game and destroy him at it when they played this year?
The Lakers were better off slowing LeBron down with Ariza--contrary to popular belief, being physical is NOT the best way to slow down a player that is 6'9 270, arguably the fastest player in the league, the strongest finisher at the rim and the most skilled all around player in the league. They don't call him L-Train for no reason.

Because ESPN says so? I'll let the people who actually vote for this thing define who is a candidate and who isn't. He should get a handful of votes if he's a "candidate."

AV is SECOND IN THE LEAGUE in +/-. (10 seconds until you tell me how stupid of a stat this is...unless of course Gasol was 2nd
) I've always been of the opinion that +/- tells you a lot about a player when it's kept over a period of time--like the whole season. It's pointless when you look at an individual game.Fact is, without Gasol they still have Bynum--who is also an All Star caliber 7-footer. Without Andy, the Cavs have a HUGE hole to fill and no one on the roster right comes close to filling it. And neato, he doesn't start--the dude plays 30 minutes a game and he FINISHES, which is far more important. He doesn't start because he brings energy and a boost off the bench and we have other good 4's--but there is no doubt who our best power forward is.

If you don't watch the Cavs everyday, then you can't understand the value he brings to the team.
I'm gonna review the stats of the 2 players and do a comparison. My guess is that other than free throw percentage, AV beats Pau in every offensive stat if guaged per minute. And there is nobody in the NBA circles that won't say AV is better than Pau at the defensive end.

My current favorite lineup includes Delonte/AP/LeBron/Jamison/AV
I love when Jamison and AV are on the floor together, because Jamison opens up lanes for AV to roll to and they're both relentless rebounders.
They're both playing some very good defense as of late too.

I know you fuckers don't like the per minute stat....but it's a great stat in measuring performance. If you don't like it. too bad. AV shoots 57% from the field this year, which is a lot better than Pau's 52%. Gasol has twice as many assists per minute, but much of that has to do with touches, just like Sage said, the ball goes into him in the post. That's not the way the Cavs operate with Andy.
Sooo...given the fact that Anderson is the better defensive player, i think it's a fair statement that AV is a slighttly better overall player than Pau.
Gasol averages 11.1 R Per 36 minutes vs. AV's 10.0 Per 36 minutes.

No need to apologize....the players overall numbers are pretty close....the deciding factor is on the defensive side of the ball. Even though Pau rips down 10% more boards per minute than AV, Andy is a lot tougher and will get more 50-50 balls.lhslep134 wrote: Pau is still better, sorry. It's hard to compare AV & Gasol, because they are completely different players with completely different roles on their team.

Just wondering if anyone knows what happened to Darnell Jackson when they waived him to make room Z.
Last night I thought I saw him on the bench in street cloths and I caught the tail end of a Fred and AC talking about how everyone was supporting him.
My computer is broke at home and this is just bugging me. Is he still on the team?

swimmer, I think the Bucks actually picked him up that Thursday when Cleveland released him. He won't be eligible for the playoffs though.

Oh so I saw him on the bucks bench.
