False statement. You cannot possibly have "THE best OL group in the country" when Bryant Browning is part of that list.
He'll be fine, OSU has definitely had worse OL guys out there on the field.

Bryant is actually not that bad of a Guard. Now when he's at tackle, there's major issues.

As people have said before Browning is a great guard, he was our best OL in many games last year.

Browning is a good guard, you just can't stick him out at tackle on an island by himself w/o a TE against any sort of athletic defensive end

Name 3. Bryant Browning is the worst lineman I can ever remember that has been a consistent starter at OSU. Being a former lineman and oline coach I watch the line play closely and Browning is awful. He rarely finishes blocks and has many plays a game where doesn't touch a soul. But when you play for one of the worst oline coaches in major college football I guess that is par for the course.

I agree with the Alex Boone nominee. So overhyped and did absolutely nothing...except for when he leap frogged over one of his teammates when they scored. Anyone remember that?

Chief-- It's comments like that which lead all of us to believe you didn't know much about football when you were playing. Don't give me that "I watch closely" stuff. You don't know their schemes on any given play. It's much easier to watch a tackle than a guard or center anyways. Browning played very good last year at his natural position. Moving him there is a BIG reason why we got to and won the Rose Bowl.

I love hearing about your playing and coaching credentials. You know this is an internet board don't you? You could be coaching pee-we football for all we know.

I just watched some highlights from the games last year vs PSU and vs Iowa.
I don't see where Browning looks like our worst OL. He plays his assignment, puts a body on someone, and holds his own. This being against two of the better defensive teams OSU played last year.

If you're running for 200+ yards a game, all of your OL has to be playing well.

Chief didn't watch 5 Star recruit Alex Boone closely then.

Browning has been asked to play out of position. He is good and if he wasn't starting material OSU has enough depth right now for him to be replaced. I'll stay with Coach Tressel on this one though, I am pretty sure he has more experience.

Very short bad memory. You don't recall the short, fat, big butt, feet in concrete O-linemen at the end of the Cooper years??

I wasn't trying to brag about credentials just that I watch the line a little closer than the average football fan because that is where my heart is. However it is not hard to figure out the blocking scheme. Inside zone, outside zone, power O, that accounts for about 85% of their running play schemes. Alex Boone was awful but was better than Browning. Cordle played out of position the last 2 years and he was better than Browning. Name any full time starter in the last few Cooper years that were as bad as Browning.

I'm sure there have been "worse," but Browning is pretty terrible. And with that said, any "group" that includes him cannot be the "best."

Boone wasn't nearly as great as he was billed to be, but he was still better than Browning. NEXT!

OSU has talent at the OL position.

If Browning is as bad as you guys claim, he wouldn't be playing.

I don't care what your credentials are, Browning is/was heads above Boone. It isn't even close. As a former offensive lineman, I too look closely at line play and I firmly believe that Browning was one of our better lineman last year. Boren and Brewster were at the top with Browning following closely behind them.

Browning was horrible at tackle but at guard he's one of our best.

LDE or RDE?

Not sure about the move as OSU is pretty thin at DT.

Simon and Heyward have been switching between DT and SSDE the whole spring.

I heard people went nuts during Simon/Boren... in Simon's favor. I think special things are going to happen with Simon this year. He was awesome as a completely raw DT last year.
