ok, let me simplify our problem here for you....

Capone and Lad are calling each other various names including pedophiles, perverts, butt pirates...etc.

I made fun of my own mother with a joke....

I guess I don't see your gripe, but most of your witty arguments never make much sense. Honestly, I am starting to doubt that you are the real "Society". The one from the other site was much more creative and occasionally funny. This fake "Society" seems more like a two bit hack. No worries though, we have plenty of them on here too.

To the OP: My sister is engaged to someone on Match. I have been on Match and met a few freak shows from there. From what I hear, stick to the free sites like OkCupid and Plentyoffish, just as many decent girls on there as on the free sites. Eharmony is fine but you don't get to look at pictures, they send you matches.

Long-term relationship? That is the downside. ;)

It's slightly weird telling people that I met my boyfriend online but I haven't gotten any bad reactions as of yet. It's definitely becoming more common.

My best friend from high school met her long term bf on eharmony so it definitely does work. I think she was on there for about a year before she met him so it took some time...but in the end it was worth it for them. Good luck!

I wasn't into the whole concept of online dating at first but I had met some train wrecks doing the whole bar scene. Signed up one night and in a month I met my current girlfriend and I would say it matched us better than I could have imagined.

Tried it, pretty much got a lot of whack jobs and even more "homely" girls. There are a few freaky nymphos out there so keep your eyes open if you're into that. The good matches are few and far between so you might as well hit up the free sites as the pay sites have the same kind of people.

I am going to a wedding next month of two people who met on a music message board. I think it's pretty solid.

She was like one of two girls on the board, as well. Similar to Fab/Wildcats' situation.

I pretty much made a living on these sites for the few years between my divorce and starting to date my current wife.

eHarmony doesn't allow you to search for matches on your own. You typically get up to five matches a day depending on both your own specifications (distance, age, etc.) and their behind-the-scenes matching of "29 dimensions".

I hit it off with a lot of people, but for me there were two major negatives (one of which is probably non-typical). Not the fault of eHarmony, but of the two serious relationships that developed, one ended with my near death and the other resulted in my pressing charges for stealing my credit card. The other thing is that I also met several of the standard talk a few times, go out on a date, have a one night stand types. I was kind of looking for something "different" so for the money (fortunately I didn't pay most of my own membership), it just doesn't seem any more legit to me.

I used sites like True, Singlesnet, and Fling to meet people when I was traveling. I'd set my zip code to whatever city I was going to be in a couple of weeks ahead of time and line up "dates" before I got there.

Fling is pretty upfront about its purpose, but there's a lot of porn and fake profiles to sift through. Singlesnet and True offer free contact with paying members, which reduces the pool of an otherwise fairly limited selection (and even more limited upfront information in the profiles). With these types of sites you can run through every member in a matter of minutes. You'll know within a day or so if there are any real prospects, but you're still locked into paying for a month or more or whatever you choose.

I do know that Singlesnet does free regional (or maybe by state) chatrooms at the moment, where you can talk to anyone and exchange your private IM info.

The overall good of these things is that it is a whole new forum to meet people you wouldn't otherwise meet. But, you still aren't guaranteed to meet the type of people who are different from who you might be able to pick up at the local bar.
