Oh, he's definitely close to average. He does one thing good in the statistical category, and that's score.. However, when you dig deeper into that, he's not even that great at that. 22 shots. 25 points.. I don't know, it kind of speaks for itself.

And lol.. Golden St. averages 108 PPG.. They haven't won over 20 games yet, so yes, I discredit what this guy does. Scoring 25 points on 22 shots and having a D-Leaguer come in and average 15 PPG (in 25 MPG) during his 13 games absolutely discredits anything he does in this offense.

lol, yeah ok.

Monta doesn't belong in the same sentence as Lebron, let alone the same paragraph.

I probably wouldn't put Monta in the top 25 or maybe even top 30 of NBA players.

There are what? Like 430 players in the league, roughly? I'd say about number 180 to 240 are average. I wouldn't put Ellis that low either--and neither would you. Average players don't average 25 a game for a season.

Maybe the guy who is only the 3rd best guard on the team should just keep his mouth closed. I would easily take Mo Williams or DWest over Monta Ellis. Again, he shouldn't be talkin that kind of smack when his team is 6 and 93 on the year.

Ellis is a damn good basketball player, but he is far from being one of the 20 best players in the NBA right now

SQ, just because there are about 450 players in the NBA doesn't mean numbers 180-250 are average.. A lot of those players of that 450 are either garbage players or role players. There are only a handful of superstars and another 10-15 all stars

After that, you're either "good" "average" or journeymen...

Monta is a "good" player. Borderline average because he doesn't do a lot of things well at all. He's nothing more, nothing less.

His basketball IQ is terrible, his shot selections are terrible, his defense is terrible, his passing is terrible. His scoring isn't even that great. He gets a lot of possessions and shot attempts based on the offense he plays in. If he was the main guy on a team like Cleveland, where defense and half court sets are the main staples, he'd be run out of town quickly.

He will never be a winner, point blank.

Those superstars and All Stars take he average up, those garbage players drag it down. Average is most definitely somewhere in the middle, it's no different than anything else.

And how much of this "his passing is terrible, defense ect" is people just looking at his numbers and assuming he doesnt play defense? I mean how much of us honestly sit down and watch a whole lot of Warriors games?

How do we judge which players fall in between that 180-250 range?

In my opinion, players aren't compared to other players like Kobe or LeBron, but more so for the roles they fill within their team.

Would you say Anderson is average? Because the common NBA fan does. However, we see what he does, we know he's not average. Yet he's probably NOT a top 100 player in the NBA statistically speaking. Or if he is, he's closer to being in the 100's than he is not.

lol, honestly? I love when people pull this card. I'm sure we've all seen several Warriors games over the past couple of seasons. There is a reason the fans of GS are tired of Ellis. If Ellis was better than I'm claiming, he'd have lead this team to more than 20 wins.

After this season, he won't even be the best on his team.

I remember earlier in the year when he said he wouldn't be able to play with Stephen Curry.. Now he knows better, because if the Warriors are forced to keep one, it'll be Curry.

Monta Ellis is a better player than Mo Williams. I don't know if he is better than Delonte West though. Ellis would probably win a game of one-on-one, but Delonte does a lot more for a basketball team.

What you mean you love when people pull this card? If you're in a defensive system that the emphasis is going for steals or basically just letting the other team shoot..are you gonna look like a good defender? Hell no you're not. Thats on the Coach not on Monta. If Ellis goes, he will have PLENTY of teams after him. You dont avg 25 a game bein a nobody

The Nuggets give up all kinds of points, is Aaron Afflalo a bad defender because of it? No, they just play a fast paced game with more possessions then a normal game so of course teams are gonna score more. Has nothing to do with the individual

Mo was an all star last season. How many all star games has Monta played in? how many will Monta play in......zero.

What is Golden State..... 20 and 62 this season? Blown out again at home tonight. Monta can't sniff the shorts of his team mate, Steph Curry. Curry is miles ahead of Monta in every offensive category....except points per game.

Golden State will unload him before next season. watch and see.

I have..on the internet. Monta hurts there team. Read the site I posted from a Warrior blog site. They can't stand him.

Monta got jobbed of being an All star this year(ASG was in Dallas and Jkidd basically got the hometown/career achievement nomination), Mo got in because a player got hurt

Ellis wasn't an All Star because he isn't an All Star level player. As for your assertion that Ellis looks like a bad player because of the style of play that warriors employ and the pace at which they operate. Thats bull shit. he looks like a bad defender because he is a bad defender. He plays defense like Steve Nash, but with less effort.

He has NO WILL to defend, pass, or take smart shots. He'd rather jack up 22 hots a game to get his 25 PPG... Please.. In Golden States system 25 PPG is hardly anything worth noting, especially when it STILL takes 22 shots to get those points. That's neither good NOR efficient.. Come on hb, you're smarter than this.

Aaron Afflalo is a GOOD defender, as is Chauncey Billups. The Nuggets play at a quicker pace, BUT, they also defend well too. Same with Orlando, and to and extent, the Cavs.. Hell, you can throw the Lakers in there too as a team that somewhat pushes the ball, but defends.

Ellis didn't get robbed of anything either. He's not an all star player, he's a "good" player (and I use that term lightly) who plays in the perfect system.

The entire defensive system is terrible, do you think theyre all bad at defense? Or do you just single out Ellis?

He shoots 22 shots a game yes, but hes the main offensive player on a team that i would bank has the most possessions a game in the NBA. He shoots 22 times a game but its not like he shoots a terrible percentage. 45% for a guard is not bad in the least.

He didnt get robbed? Lol go look at kidds numbers? You know as well as I if you're top 4 or 5 in the NBA in scoring(which he was at the time) you almost 99% of the time get put on the team. Jason Kidds bum ass doesnt play defense either lol but he got put on the team bc it was in dallas. Lol just go look at players who have avg'd 25 ppg and tell me how many barely good players are on that list.

Im not saying hes on the same level as Melo, Bron, Kobe, CP3, Deron Williams ect....But hes not to be lumped in with role players IMO.

I disagree. There are plenty of players in the NBA that can put up 25 a game being the focal point of a terrible team. Look at Andray Blatche. He could barely crack playing time on the Wiz when they were remotely decent, then they ship their talent out of town and he becomes the focal point of the offense and is putting up 20+ a game to the detriment of the Wizards. Monta would never score 20+ for a talented playoff caliber team because he would be like the third option, if that. He's just not a good enough player to elevate a team. His name doesn't belong in the conversation with Lebron, Kobe, Durant, etc. who both put up the numbers and can elevate the play of those around them.
