Jon Scheyer (All American) vs Jon Diebler (much maligned)

Pick6, you can't be serious?

I like Diebler, and Diebler shouldn't be allowed to go to the store and buy J.J. Redick socks. That's how weak Diebler is compared to J.J. Redick. Frankly, Diebler is a rich man's Kyle Hornsby (and Kyle Hornsby averaged 6 points-a-game as a senior at IU).

I'm sure you were only trying to stir controversy, but, in the off chance that you weren't, you need to work on your sports cred.

Neither of them will play in the NBA. Scheyer is a good college player, but he would get abused in the NBA. Diebler does nothing well enough to translate to the NBA. If he learns how to shoot when he is hurried by a closing defender, he might find a spot as a Jason Kapono type of guy, but he will never play significant minutes. More likely is that he will continue to put up bricks when he isn't all by himself, and he will be a D-league role player.

Go ahead, everybody....click on it. They don't have Diebler getting picked.

You have to switch it to the 2011 mock. They have him as the 46th overall pick. Not that it means anything at all.

Someone really compared Diebler to Redick? Can that be submitted to SI for this weeks sign of the apocalypse?

At one time you claimed that Diebler would be 1st team all conference and an All-American. Good call.

JJ could create his own shot. That is a HUGE difference between them. And he is and was a much better shooter than Diebler.

I don't think he is going to be...but prescott takes everything so literally, so I figured I'd give him a taste of his own medicine.

Diebs doesn't move well without the ball and gives up baseline like 20 dollar whore.

Great catch and shoot guy, that's pretty much where you draw the line with him.

If Deibler plays in the NBA, I'm trying out.

JJ could create his own shot.
Not in college. He needed staggered baseline screens to get open.

I know what you mean, if someone ever starts an anti Ohio State thread, I'll be pissed.

J.J. could create his own shot as a senior. You don't score over 40 three times without this ability. If one had actually watched Redick play in those games (against stout competition, no less: Texas, Georgetown and Virginia, and another 35 against Maryland and UNC), one would know this.

Between his junior and season seasons, J.J. perfected the art of driving for the foul or mid-range finish.

Here. I'll fix this for you.

J.J. perfected the art of driving for the foul. He couldn't finish. He did, however, benefit from some happy whistles.

From the very start it looked like it was going to be a rough night for Duke’s All-American guard. LSU small forward Garrett Temple forced him to put the ball on the floor time after time by absolutely draping him with his length, and Redick fell hook line and sinker for their plan and exposed all of his weaknesses by forcing his way into the lane time after time. It seemed like every time Redick touched the ball he either traveled, had the ball stripped, or when he did manage to get into the paint forced up a weak lay-up that rimmed out or had the ball swatted away by LSU’s gangly frontline. The Tigers threw multiple defenders at him off every single curl, trapped him once he got the ball in his hands and absolutely smothered him with their length every time he touched the ball. The biggest question marks Redick’s detractors have about his game, specifically his lack of explosiveness and ball-handling skills, were all exposed as major potential problems for him at the next level.

LOL at this JJ comparion at all. JJ was absolutely amazing in his senior year. The only comparison there is, they both shot a lot of 3s.

Always showing your lack of intellect. NOTHING SIMILAR. Last year the Ohio State Sienna game was a 8 seed vs 9 seed. A TOSS UP GAME ignorant one.

The only points he gets are uncontested 3 pointers
Actually, Diebler was 32/62 inside the arc. If he would learn to drive into the lane and flail his arms as he releases the ball, he could get 5 or 6 more free throws a game. Maybe, he will add that to his game next year.

Unless Diebler improves TREMENDOUSLY in the offseason, adding multiple parts that are lacking in his game, he won't sniff the NBA, I don't care what some draft board says.

I mean seriously, just take a minute and look at that site. Durand Scott (who?) in front of guys like Jordan Crawford, LaceDarius Dunn, and Manny Harris? Buford in front of Crawford? At this point, a mock draft two years away is a joke.

LOL at the people ripping on Diebler, Scheyer, or Redick. I hate the Dukies, but Redick has become a pretty solid player for a team that beat on the Eastern Conference last year. Those of you making it sound like not getting more than a slim shot at the NBA or playing overseas are bad things are dumbasses.

Diebler and Scheyer each...
-play for a top ten program in NCAA history
-are going to play professionally for a long time
-are better at basketball than most of us clowns on here are at, well, anything
