Nope, but he's 100 times the man (and before you ask, yes, I do).

SQ_Crazies wrote: LOL, please don't try to cite an ESPN poll on Meyer like it means anything here. First of all, God knows how many people voted on that and didn't even see or read the story. And more importantly, you know how many people just hate Urban Meyer.

I mean, it's just my personal stance, but fuck the media. Props to Meyer.
Did you say dont cite an ESPN poll here bc it doesnt mean anything?.........Then on ur next post say. I dont see why the ESPN poll is pointless?

As I said. His opinion is pointless to me. Mine is to him and 80% of the country thinks Meyer fucked up. So be it.

So yes, I'd say the comments were justified.

Put this in perspective of OSU.

Say Duron Carter made similar comments about Pryor's successor, wouldn't you feel as if they were anti-Pryor comments, and that it could be a chemistry issue? Obviously Tressel wouldn't explode like that because he's not as publicly emotional as Urban, but I bet Tressel would still be perturbed.
Perturbed is nothing compared to threatening a reporter with violence.

Anyone who uses the term "fucking retard" is TRULY illiterate enough to be considered retarded.

Urban's true colors shine yet again....he's an arrogant,self-centered prick who needs to bully people to feed his ego...but he can coach--I'll give him that.

But I love Meyer in this story, I love what he said. I think he's getting a lot of heat from it because people don't like him for other reasons--but in this case, you gotta love it. When you're watching the media talk about someone taking a shot at the media, they're going to paint him out to be the bad guy. But I love seeing someone tell a media guy to fuck off and not sugar coat it. Thompson's comments made total sense to me, I don't think he meant anything negative about Tebow with what he said--he's just more comfortable with a normal QB. But the media was going to hint that it was something more than it was...which shouldn't surprise ANYONE.
Exactly. It's amazing how many idiots on here can't understand this. This had nothing to do with Tebow, and everything to do with the reporter trying to stir up controversy by taking a quote out of context. And the worst part is coming from a reporter who is granted access to cover Florida at their own stadium. It's not a right, it's a privelage. Meyer was absolutely right in coming to Deonte's defense. And the media always come to defense of their own.

september63 wrote: That was one bloggers opinion. BTW, early in the bloggers opinion post he referred to the Orlando Sentinal writer as Jeremy Foley. It is Fowler!!

We all know Jeremy Foley is the AD. That was just an opinion piece by a blogger/fan of the Gators. He wasnt a sportwriter for anyone.
You really should just shut up. You have no f'ing idea what you are talking about. Robbie Andreu wrote the piece and he has been a sports WRITER for the Gainesville sun for almost 20 years.

Does anyone really look at Urban Meyer and think badass? I can't imagine being intimidated by him. He shouldn't throw hollow threats out there. I for one am not impressed by this overreaction.

He embarrassed NE Ohio with that....just something else I have to defend down here in Texas.

BTW, The University of Florida will NEVER revoke the Orlando Sentinel's credentials....another hollow, empty threat.

He really looked poorly on this. This is not a deflect/take the heat away from his players....there is no need to do something like that in March.....so stop using that stupid, idiotic argument.

Just about every sports commentator on ESPN thinks he stepped way out of line.

oh he definitely did. i'd like to see what the original article was (before fowler and the sentinel edited it) to see if fowler insinuated anything about tebow? as the current article stands, fowler just did his job. either way, meyer comes out looking like a jackass to pretty much everyone (well except potential future recruits)

Bull. This may be a shock to a swamp gas-huffing jort-wearing Florida fan, but writing someone's exact quote word-for-word isn't taking out of context. And since it was transcribed in text, it's impossible to infer or derive intent from it, and only a dense individual would attempt to do so.

We can argue all the live long day about whether the initial quote was a poor choice of words, but the fact is that is was said and transcribed doesn't make it anything else.

And Meyer is still a jackass who has no business talking to a reporter like he's nine years old.

They also think Mike Gundy was way out of line, when he quite clearly was not.
