I used to work for an insurance agent and we got a letter from an insured complaining about her ER visit not being paid. The words BIG POOP were in the letter about 27 times. Capitalized and underlined. Her spelling and grammer were about as good as that one. But hey, we laughed about big poop for months.

I'm a Supervisor in a state tax audit office. I had a lady call me today and leave me a message. She was inquiring about the legality of "escort" services. I called her back and let her know that I couldn't address the legal issues but could discuss the tax ramifications since we do tax this type of personal service - yes we do! So, I told her she needed to permitted and then she needs to also go to the IRS and get a FEI and so forth. All the time, she kept saying how she wanted to be legitimate. I told my manager and she joked that maybe she was a holdover from the NBA All-Star game because apparently there were more than a few of the out of town escorts in town during that time.

When I processed medical claims (back when many employer plans still offered "pay and reimburse" indemnity options instead of just the direct-bill network plans for their employees):

a/ people who tried to pass off vet bills for their pets as covered expenses for a child or spouse. The types of take-home drugs usually tipped us off on that one, but lots of them were pretty obvious even without them. Favorite example: the couple who had their three-year old son neutered, if you want to believe the claim form and the attached bill. We had that one framed (sans names) on the wall of the break room. If you want to rip off the insurance company, at least look up the medical terms first. :)

b/ guys who tried to pass off "non-therapeutic massages" as physical therapy . If the claim was for services rendered in Florida or Nevada (especially for "whirlpool therapy"), or the rendering therapist's name was just a first name (i.e, "Trixie" ) you just sent it straight to the boys and girls over in the fraud department. You have to admire their chutzpah - hiring a hooker AND getting your insurance to pay for it (as well as the ensuing visit to the clap doctor).

I work at a Credit Union doing IT work. I field phone calls from members having problems with online banking and phone banking. We have a 92 year old member that I believe is senile. He calls and says the system is broke and he should have X amount of money, not X-$8000. We tell him what options to hit and in what order and he continues to call back. I have put him on speaker phone while I called on another speaker phone doing the same things I told him with no problems. He has called one lady in our credit union 5 times in one day saying its still broke. He is obviously doing something wrong because we know that it works. I could understand if it was saying it wouldn't let him in or something but he is saying that its saying his balance is $8000 less. He calls back almost daily. Threatens to take his money out of the credit union yet he lives in Indiana. I haven't heard from him lately. So hopefully, his sister that we contacted has helped him with the situation.

I'm working on a project where my company (big, but not huge) is partnering with a much larger (*cough* biggest in the business) company and I'm amazed at the way they handle stuff.

for example:

The deadline for the project is 7/15. Company X (our partner) is ordering some equipment from Halliburton. Halliburton won't have the RAW MATERIALS (i.e. machined metal block) until 7/16. Once Halliburton has it, they will need 2 weeks to add all the bells and whistles, test it, paint it, etc. Halliburton has said they can meet 7/31, but won't make 7/15. Company X tells Halliburton (with us in the room mind you) that the deadline will be kept at 7/15 until closer to the deadline because there is no certainty in our schedule. Mind you, it's not our facility so aside from saying, "yes we'll pay for that construction." we have NO SAY in what goes on.

I'm thinking:

"Yeah, cause you mother fuckers haven't met 1 single deadline in the life of this project."
