They are an excellent team. perhaps the most gifted group of college players in years. I never bought into them being much more than Sullinger and Witherspoon (sp). Is not a knock, LBJ lost a state title too!

Classy, in 1980 the U.S. did not beat the Soviets 7-2 did they? I thought it was 4-2.

I think he is trying to say that Northland losing at all is shocking but them losing by 26 is unfathomable and comparable to what it would be like if the US had won 7-2.

Know it all, what is your problem. I took Classy's post as if he thought the U.S. really did win by that amount and was just responding to it. However, the win by that margin is a good analogy and I'm not at all critical about it. No malice whatsoever. Sorry if my political posts (haven't been there in a long time) bothered you. This is an opinion forum by the way.

TY to him. Ive never met him. Ive never spoken to him. Ive never Pm'ed him, yet I asked this morning if maybe he could text me score updates. Kept me updated like I was there. Thanks again OC friend!
Your welcome! All I have to say is after the first five minutes it was all Gahanna. In my opinion Northland is a very lazy team and assumed they could play the same game they have been playing all year. Stevie Taylor for Gahanna could not be stopped.

Ive seen Northland play 4 times this year. Also, have thought they can play lethargic at times. I guess it bit them in the ass tonight.

By the time they woke up it was too late. Gahanna was just too fast for them.

Does Gahanna have some size or are they just guard oriented?

I saw Stevie as a 7th grader. He dominated then and it hasn't sopped. Great kid and a great player.

I was at the game. Gahanna shot the ball extremely well(23/38). All of the Gahanna players contributed to this win. It was a clinic and the Gahanna Lions executed their game plan to perfection.

Northland (23-1) got off to a 9-2 lead, with Weatherspoon and Sullinger kicking off the action with dunks. But Gahanna got back into it with the help of three-pointers by Sam Bott and Justin McDowell to tie the score 10-10.

The Lions then made 10 of their 12 shots in the second quarter, including threes by Stevie Taylor, Rob Brandenberg and Anthony Jackson, for a 33-22 halftime advantage. The lead grew to 41-22 in the third period with two more treys by Bott and free throws by Brandenberg.

Northland never really recovered. Gahanna was up 60-32 in the final frame before the Vikings had an 11-4 run.

Gahanna had four double-figure scorers: Brandenberg had 19 points, Taylor 17, Bott 14 and Jackson 12. In their final prep game, Sullinger had 24 points and Weatherspoon 11.

Sullinger is a beast and, although he scored 24 points, Northland didn't go to him enough.IMO,he should touch the ball on every offensive set and he didn't. Many of his points came on put backs.

As I mentioned on another thread about this result, perhaps it's not too late to set up a scrimmage between Port Clinton and Northland. Thank God for Northland that Port Clinton is Division 2 this season! ( As I was on the other thread, I'm only kidding.....I think.)

Coaching......Coaching.......Coaching.....Northland was too big to be in a man defense, Gahanna made them run around a kill their energy. Should of been in a 2-3 or 1-3-1 zone.

Northland went to a 1/2 court zone press for a time in the 1st half with Sullinger at the point. Stevie Taylor beat the trap at the top and penetrated the zone for layups or dish-offs.

Maybe, a more conventional zone with Sullinger in the middle would have worked better.

Guards win championships! Gahanna had them, Northland didn't! Sullinger was out of gas early in the second half - Dad finally took him out for the last minute of the third qtr. Game was over by then. I was surprised by how easily all of the Gahanna guards blew by the Northland guards. Northland also had a problem at the free throw line. Both of the Ohio State kids better figure out ft fundamentals - Weatherspoon in particular was awful at the line last night - Sullinger was probably too fatigued......Satch didn't get outcoached - his kids flat-out got outplayed.

Great crowd and super atmosphere last night!!

Game highlight video. It basically highlights power slams vs solid guard play/shooting.
