Former CNN reporter Christiane Amanpour has been named the new anchor of "This Week," ABC News President David Westin announced today. She replaces Stephanopoulos who is now at Good Morning America.

The move will now place more of a foreign policy view on the Sunday talk shows. I think this is a great move. Amanpour is a wonderful journalist and I'd say expert on the Middle East and especially Iran. It should add a great new dynamic to the Sunday shows, of which I hope we see real foreign policy substance.

Meh...she's okay. I agree that she knows her shit from a foreign policy perspective, but she's gonna need to go back to school to handle US domestic policy effectively. Plus, she's snooty. ;)

Exactly. She's great at FP but does she have the personality to engage her guests, stimulate good discussion and hold an audience?

I doubt it.

Yeah, cause that is what matters lol.

I agree with the choice, as her foreign affairs experience, investigator spirit and outside approach to the insanity that is DC will be a nice change.

It does on TV, don't kid yourself. There's a reason Fox News has such high ratings, and it's not just the programing.

I thought news was about reporting the facts. Not a beauty contest.

Unless your Fox news they found a way to report the news with the beauties.

Just for you Mr. 300.

I've always been a big fan of Amanpour. She is an excellent field reporter and usually just presents the facts without the bias.

lol, she is not a looker, but is one of the best foreign policy reporters out there. I guess that doesn't mean much to some people.

I don't like her. She has done some reports on CNN that I thought really sucked.

I just threw up in my mouth. I don't think there is one person here on Ohiochatter that would take one for the team.

I would. I wouldn't mind hearing her squeal in that accent. :D

I'm not sure she's the "perfect" choice for a show format like this, but I'm willing to give her a shot...cause I'm open-minded and rational that way.

Who watches the news to be aroused? Or television at all for that matter? Just look at porn on the internet like a normal person does.
