Just saw this article from another message board. This is outrageous, but I'm not surprised coming from the home state of Queen Nancy. When will (Never) the Obama administration tackle the illegal immigration problem? This is costing taxpayers huge sums of money.

When our country is crumbling in front of us, why doesnt the powers that be kick these people out of the country, build a wall and save our tax dollars for US.
Business likes the illegal immigrants. It provides cheap labor, which is why you have never seen a real push to stop the flow in, round them all up and get them out of here.

There is a link on Drudge about Obama endorsing a blueprint for immigration which is being drafted by Charles Schumer and Lindsey Graham. In a nutshell it gives illegals a path to becoming legal, by admitting they broke the law, paying a fine, and passing an English profficiancy test. Oh, and they also must complete community service and those of us who did not break the law will be required to carry a new national id card. Hold on folks we are in for a bumpy ride. This country will be gone in 50 years.

I don't see what is wrong with that. 1. They admit they were wrong and broke the law. 2. They pay a fine. 3. They have to learn English and 4. Have to do community service. I see nothing wrong with that. The national ID card, I do not see that flying. Unless, it is more a SS card, which we all already do.

We can't send them all back, that is impractical and raises many moral issues when discussing their children. The best solution is to frame laws that do not reward breaking the law, but bring them into the system. This country will not be gone in 50 years. People were saying the same thing back in the 19th century and we turned out fine.

What is wrong with that is if you announce you are going to do this, we will be literally flooded with illegal immigrants across the border, even more than usual. You can't give anyone amnesty/citizenship without first stopping them from crossing the border, otherwise we will have the exact same problem in 10-20 years. We need to secure the border and end the law that allows anchor babies. Unless at least one parent is a citizen, no child born in this country should get U.S. citizenship.

Agreed. I'm referring to people that have been here for an extended period of time. I'll support the move if there is a minimum of let's say 3 years in the U.S.

Anyone else would be deported or heavily fined. Something like that.

The way you get rid of them is by not giving them free handouts and by punishing the businesses that hire them with ridiculously high fines. If they have no work and arent given free handouts, they will leave.

This makes too much sense. Don't count on it being apart of any future legislation dealing with illegal immigration.

English "profficiancy" test? Now you folks know that I never go after spelling errors for two reasons. One, it is a very unpopular thing to do and if it isn't really bad, who cares? However, if a person is basing his argument against the simple requirements the Obama Plan has to legitimize citizenship status for immigrants on such tests, it would seem to me that the person complaining should at least be proficient enough in English to spell the name of the test (proficiency) correctly. I'm not for supporting non-citizens with our tax dollars but I think a program to allow new immigrants to legally enter our country is fine...unless of course, we wish to intentionally keep people out of the bastion of freedom and democracy around the world.

Soooooooooooo.....let me understand your logic here. I think you're saying we need MORE immigration laws to enforce the existing immigration laws. Then we excuse the existing law breakers by "bringing them into the system"?

So that solves the problem?

Yep. It sucks. But, just saying kick out all the illegals makes no sense as many have been here for many years and have children. It would be immoral to kick them out and separate the family. So, anyone that who has been here more than say 2 years has to pay a fine, learn english, go to the back of the line, and serve their community. People here less than say 2 years, will get deported. I think that is a practical solution. It doesn't reward breaking the law-as people are getting punished-but also does not kick them out causing moral and logistical nightmares.

The current system is broken, seriously. Just talk to anyone that works in border protection, ICE, and DHS.

We already have immigration laws...we just need to enforce them. Adding more laws won't matter if we aren't willing to enforce the ones we already have. Adding more laws to ignore to laws we already ignore is absurd.

So, does that mean breaking families apart? And deporting people who will probably try and find a way to get back to their family, hence breaking the laws again and starting a viscous cycle?

Pragmatically, we need to bring these people in. Now, with these laws, I'd suggest they be temporary and expire after 10 years. So, that future illegals can't use them, and it forces others to use the legal ways.

Which will probably bring us right back around to where we are now, unfortunately. They will still walk, crawl and dig their way right back in.

If they aren't supposed to be here to begin with, then they should leave. If their family loves them as they should, they'll follow.

Enforce the laws we have and secure the borders.

Don't just throw your hands in the air and say let them all in, whether it's incrementally or not.

I hope Obama's healthcare bill passes. Millions of illegals need free medical care.

Pelosi and Obama and most other democrats want illegals in this country and want to give them voting rights.
