East Canton will tip off against the Newton Falls Tigers.

Anyone know much about Newton Falls and the style of play or a little history of their season?

Any predictions?

They have a decent team. Two very solid players in Dillon (So.) and Sole. They will have a tough matchup defensively against the Hornets, specially against Zell and 22. They press at times and will mix up defenses.

I see NF have lost to Campbell Memorial twice in the season.

From what little info I have gotten about NF ...... EC pressure def, ball movement and some speed could be a problem for NF.
From watching EC the kids twice this season they have ice in their veins.

My prediction is EC by 12

I am thinking of going to see Orrville play the first game and EC the second. My interest is in EC I have a long history of friends and relatives in EC ….

They play lazy 2/3 and ball side 3/2 with their hands at their sides. Alot of trash talking at times which is not needed. They are decent and could let their play do the talking but something must be in the Mahoning water that has them throthing at the mouth. No inside game and live and die by the 3. That will doer!:P

Campbell did beat them twice, both games by double digits. Like Sports said ^, they live and die by the 3. Dillon and Sole are their main scorers. Dillon will jack it up from anywhere on the court, unlimited range, only a soph. They will turn the ball over while being pressed, simply because they don't have the greatest of ballhandlers.

EC press is very effective, and they move to the ball quickly and support the back side well, strong rebounding.
EC is very cool club nothing seems to set them off ......... They play their game and presure the other team to make mistakes

From what some of you have said I could predict a 16-18 point victory but I good with 12

Belly, I agree totally with you on the ice in their veins comment. They could have folded when Campbell began to run them in the 1st qtr. But EC stayed right there and thanks to the Red Devils absolute inability to play basketball the way they were taught, EC took advantage of that. They saw opportunity, and number 22 ran free to shoot whatever he wanted from wherever he wanted. How that little guard grabbed 13 rebounds is beyond me. Good for him. Absolute hustle....and laziness on the other side of the ball.

The Falls is actually "down" this year. They have two very effective players, but their big from last year is gone and their point guard who was outstanding is gone. Bringing the ball up the court was hard for them to accomplish against our trapping defense. Something we did not do against EC for what reason I have absolutely no idea.

So it comes down to EC's constant pressure and never say die attitude along with number 22's lights out shooting vs. Newton Falls and the question of will the three fall or won't it fall.

Well if that game last night doesn't show just how bad Campbell played against EC...I don't know what will. Congratulations to Newton Falls. Good luck guys......a tall order ahead but bring home a regional title. The Devils are cheering for you.

EC ...IMO had one of those games where getting on track was not going to happen. EC just was not the same team that I had seen in other games. I will hand it to the NF kids they hit the 3's at the right time and stopped any momentum of EC.
Not a good game by EC but they had a great season.
It will be a very tall order for NF to beat Orrville. Congrats to NF for a good victory … best of luck next game…

I think what is going to make it hard even moreso than the talent Orrville has is the fact they play in a very rough league. Thus their 5 losses. So they are well prepared for teams at the division 3 level. Falls will have to play perfect from start to finish and control the ball. Keep the score low. Don't try to get into a shootout with 'em. Nonetheless, geat season THUS FAR for the Falls. It's not over yet fellas. Good Luck.

Orrville lost twice to D1 Mansfield Sr., once to D2 Lexington and once to D1 Wooster.

The 12 point Lexington loss was the worst one as far as point-margin is concerned.
