My grandpa had a three-legged miniature poodle farm dog that lived to be 16 or 17 years old.

One of my dogs is a toy poodle/mini schnauzer mix.

Hey, watch those statements about bassets. My basset is very smart just very stubborn and spoiled !

I will agree with you on the stubborn and spoiled, but the next "smart" Basset I meet will be the first.

Dachshund. They're hounds.

English Bulldogs are my second favorite. Third would be mut.

Griffey after his latest fight. I believe that was just this week.
Just talked to my mom tonight and it seems like the old dog finally met his match. He and one of the other dogs took off on Sunday and the other finally showed back up at the house today but she was alone. :(

Sorry to hear of the loss of your dog. Over time they do become one of the family. Always sucks losing a loyal friend.

I like mutts. They can't help it that their parents owner didn't watch them better. We have 2 mutts and they are the best dogs ever. Wouldn't trade them for the world. When they are gone, we will save more mutts.

Chesapeak lab retrievers. Extremely smart, loyal, obedient, tons of energy when you want to be active, will lay up and cuddle on the couch with you when you don't. GREAT dogs.

Jack Russell's are badass dogs for their size. My brothers would frequently go down a woodchuck hole and come out a bloody mess with a dead woodchuck 2-3x's his size. Bought a Jack Russell mix for my girlfriend's mom. Dog is all amped up like it's on crack.

The Jack's taking out ground hogs are kind of impressive, but we used to have a big female tomette that would bring us dead mice, squirrels and the occasional rabbit for a piece of cheese. One day as I stepped out the back door she was laying on the patio looking rather frazzled and beat up. Laying next to her was a dead ground hog, more than three times her size. After a round of antibiotics and some shots for the bites she was back at it. She lived for 15-16 years, great cat.

No love for spaniels? Had some kind of Springer Spaniel growing up (she wasn't 100% and we never knew what other breed was in her), and she was so popular the kids in the neighborhood used to knock on our door and ask if she could come out and play. Very smart too. As many cars that would go past the house, when my brother or dad came home she'd get up and go to the back door to greet them. Never could figure out how she knew it was their car. Also never barked at anybody except the garbage man. lol We had her for 16 years and had to put her down b/c of heart failure. Man, I still miss her and it's been almost 40 years. Hope you're RIP Mitzi!
