They're not ready to be dominant as sophomores and I think that's why Minnesota is up-and-down.

But next year and the year after I think they'll contend for stuff.
Next year contend for stuff??? Tomorrow they play for the big 10 tourney title.

More talented? How so? They're playing well but I wouldn't say they have more talent than OSU.

I look at Minnesota and they didn't win the conference championship. They aren't ranked in 7th in the nation. They don't have the National POY. They didn't have a single player named to any of the All-Big Ten teams. Not to mention that OSU doesn't start a single senior, while Minnesota starts 2.

Tubby is a good coach and Minnesota has some good talent, but I think you're stretching it too far based upon the last 2 games they've played.

Yeah, true. Might be starting that climb at the end of this year.

I don't think they're in the NCAA Tournament with this win.

20-12 and 9-9 and nothing significant in non-conference.

I say Minnesota has to get the automatic bid.

maybe especially if they lose big to OSU but beating MSU and Purdue sure helps their cause. Maybe OSU should play Simmons and Hill the whole game. Give a break to some of the starters with the 2OT game today. Plus get the Big Ten an extra team in the Big Dance.

Minnesota hasn't done any less OOC than most of the other bubble teams have done. They should be in, though you never know I guess.

I think Minnesota locked up a bid by making it to the title game. I actually think they just took Illinois' spot in the tourney.

It's been said that since the Big Ten Tournament ends so late, the decisions on what seed Ohio State has and whether Minnesota is in or out will have been made before the game is over.

They have a contingency plan if something Earth-shattering goes down... aka "if A wins, then ..., but if B wins, then ..."

It's not 100% locked, but they generally have their minds made up. IMHO OSU is a 2 seed win or lose, and MINN is in as a bubble school on the inside regardless.

I always thought the Big Ten was at a disadvantage regarding seeding by stretching it out, but they won't change because of it's "tradition"...

I'll be shocked if Illinois isn't in the tournament regardless of Minnesota's performance. I don't think they should be (they are 19-14, I believe), but I think they are in after their tourney performance.

New Mexico State won the WAC tonight beating Utah State who was probably in either way, so that takes away another spot for the bubble teams. Both Illinois and Minnesota deserve to be in, but I don't think they both get in.

More about money than tradition. They are the only college basketball game being played at that time in the whole country. It is on CBS, meaning people tune into it waiting for Selection Sunday to start. It is really genius on the part of the Big Ten in regards to money.
