I really can't remember when the Big East was "THE" premier conference? Maybe the 80's? Year in year out, the media can portray how strong the Big East is, but the Big Ten still and always will play good, sound, fundemental basketball. I mean really, where do you think Syracuse would have finished in the Big 10 this year? Maybe 4th/5th?

I think what they did during the season, which led to what, 6/7 teams getting into the NCAA was enough to justify that as well. Not much different then what the Big East did this year with 8 teams, thus why they were the best conference overall this year.
Exageration or a short memory on your part? LMAO, "FACT"?.......the Big 10 was the best conference overall last year?........by who's standards?.......this board?
HOw much more can you exaggerate? Did I say "THE best"? If so, go ahead and copy that. I said "one of the best", and they were in fact one of the best last year. I believe #2 RPI if I recall correctly. I'd say that along with other factors, would put them as "one of the best". There is NO true formula to determine the best. Its typically a matter of opinion and discussion. But there was NO question the Big Ten last year, and THIS year is one of the best conferences. So go ahead and "LYAO" as much as you want now.

Look at what the Big East has done in the NIT also.
St. Johns is out vs Memphis
Cinci is out vs Dayton
UCONN is out vs VT
Seton Hall is out vs Texas Tech
USF is out vs NC State

Come on.. Not ONE Big East team made it past the second round of the NIT and only 2 of the Big East teams made it past the second round in the dance.

Why don't you just go away, there's no confrontation, in fact it's been pretty civil, good discussion. In fact, the only pattern that should be noted is your idiocy!

That's fine and dandy but all I heard last year was how great the Big 10 was because MSU made a run to the final. Again, what's the criteria, especially when the Big East gets two teams to the final four?

I've never claimed that the Big Ten has the best basketball conference. very good, yes. the best, no. I dont think there is any clear-cut greatest conference in the ncaa.

How stupid are you? Did you even bother to read any of this thread, several people disagree with my view on this. It's only when disfunctional people like you get involved that the situation blows up, but I'm the trouble maker. Maybe you can't read? BTW, what trouble did I start on the HS forum? And who is this "WE " you speak of, the "we" who asked me to leave? BTW, why should I put you on my ignore list.......after all, you're the one who attacked me.

Um, I do recall that the Big East place a record 5 teams in the Sweet Sixteen last year, four in the Elite Eight and Two in the Final Four. Sounds to me that was more recent than the 80s to me.

I'm guessing that he was being sarcastic. If not, he just got owned.

I've gotta say.....few people get their jollies out of a conference having a poor postseason like some Big 10 fans on here do. And really....it's the same when it comes to SEC football. You start to wonder if there's an inferiority complex there. Not a bash either. I'm dead serious.

Without a doubt, the Big 10 is having a better NCAA tournament than the Big East and the rarely bashed Big 12 (considered at least the 2nd best conference all year and only 2 out of 7 left and hardly a word about it) but I still think both leagues were better than the Big 10 overall. Do the SEC (football) and Big East (basketball) get a lot of love from the media? Yep. Is it, most of the time, warranted? I think so. Of course, conferences do occasionally have rough postseasons. And boy oh boy when they do.....some Big 10 fans are there to pounce. You can almost see the sheer joy as you read their posts. Then again, some of these folks are the same people who will defend the Big 10 no matter how shitty of a postseason they had in a sport.

As far as the article that CBF posted......it definitely has a pro-Big 10, anti-Big East tone to it.....but Rosenberg is a Detroit Free Press writer so I am not surprised. Isn't that why some dismiss the hype the Big East gets from the media.....because of all of those East Coast writers? I guess we can apply that here as well if we're being fair.

Anyways, the Big East (and the Big 12) deserves some criticism for a poor NCAA tourney performance but I think it's ridiculous HOW MUCH the league is being bashed after a bad 4-day stretch. That's not to say that I think the Big East should get a pass for their lackluster performance (like the Big 12 is, okay....now I'm harping) either.

The author, Michael Rosenberg, is competely unbiased when it comes to the Big 10.

The facts in the article trump any bias that might be there. Find me a writer anywhere that lacks bias.

It's really an unimportant issue.

How do you ignore a user? I was enjoying the (semi) intelligent debate on here before that idiot vball got on here.

I'd really like to ignore every single one of his posts, how do you do that?

Also, the Big East had a down year, but their rep allowed them to get 8 teams in, not unlike the SEC being considered the best conference in college football this year despite only having 2 good teams.
