So many I really like this one by someone not that famous but it is a marvelous rendition of a great song.

If you have never seen this and like guitar you really need to watch this.

Siege Engine by Buckethead

Also all his Aunt Suzie songs - Soothsayer, Sail on Soothsayer and Aunt Suzie are awesome

I love Metallica, definitely my favorite metal band, but I would say Kirk is somewhat overrated as far as guitarists go. If you play guitar, he does a lot of bs stuff in his solos, and there's not a whole lot left if you took away his whammy bar and wah pedal. James is hands down a better guitarist, he plays a lot of their better solos, and writes some of Kirks. They're both awesome though.

Glad to see at least one person mention Eddie Hazel.

Great, great player, who just got too messed up to really do much with his ability.

But, his solo album is an underrated gem. I found it on vinyl for cheaper than what it usually is, and didn't think twice about throwing the money down for it.

1. Randy Rhoads at the end of "mr. crowley"
2. Slash at the end of "nighttrain"
3. Marty Friedman and Dave Mustaine in "hangar 18"
4. Joe Satriani-"flying in a blue dream"
5. Stevie Ray Vaughn-"to the last drop"

all excellant
WNCX in Cleve plays it every Saturday at midnight-- they edit the line "or drown in my own shit" to "or drown in the FCC regulations." Pretty funny, but wrecks a good song

namod65 wrote: Just about any song that Buckethead or Satriani do could be on the greatest solo list. They're almost all instrumentals so they're pretty much solos the whole song. IMO they are the two best guitarists out there.
Especially Satriani! Supposedly when he was a bout 14 and he heard Hendrix died, it was then that he decided to become a guitarist. He also used to teach the guitar and his two most famous students were,
Steve Vai and Kirk Hammett, so the guy definetly knows what he is doing!

If you can teach Kirk Hammett, then you must be a hell of a guitarist.
