I've seen intentional fouls to keep kids from making an easy 2, but if you have agressive players on the floor, you want them doing that in certain situations...you don't tell them to dial it back and let their opponent put up an easy, uncontested 2. Personally, I think that was SFS's downfall - only a couple guys played tough defense - Fockler was another. Some of the other kids, not willing to take a charge or closely contest shots - would rather put up 3s on the other end.

Game's over, SJJ won, so everyone can quit bitchin' and whinin' now...should be a good game Saturday night.

You can write whatever you want about the kid but the Bcsn film shows otherwise. The kid is a cheap shotter period end of story.

Really don't care how nice the kid is, it was a cheap shot. Totally uncalled for. #24 and #44 from SFS both like to mix it up, both borderline dirty players imo.

CCHS v SJJS should be a really good game, clearly the best two teams in the city this year.

It was a clothesline. He didn't even get jersey. His left arm was wrapped around the front of his neck.

Knight XC1 - You are the only one who doesn't think it was a dirty play and you are an SFS alum I am sure. Everyone else, included unbiased parties, agree it was a cheap shot. This is why I am glad I chose SJJ or SFS.

Yodzis got him good but it was a hard foul. He wasn't trying to hurt Norrils by any means. Fouls like this happen in every level of basketball and because people are so uptight about it, they scream intentional fouls and people to be thrown out. If someone leveled Kobe or Lebron but were making a play on the ball, it's not intentional or a cheap shot, it's a hard foul. My VOD is currently not working so I can't see the replay but from where I was, it was a hard foul, not a cheap shot, but I'm sure you can interpret it however you want. I could care less what everyone thinks because it's all opinion and everyone has one. There is no fact involved in any of this so it's moot.

Referee in CYO basketball does not count. Grabbing someone around the neck is intent to harm.

SJJ wins 49-41 tonight. Just another district title for the best basketball program in NW Ohio, period.

So a high school ref, AAU ref? Otherwise it isn't even close to competitive. 4 years of refing doesn't make a veteran of the rule book either.

I've watched the replay and talked to players - all agree he grabbed him by the shoulder, not neck. So, all the fans/parents who want to call that a clothesline, that's your impression - I see three or four of you on this thread constantly posting crap about it, so your feelings must reflect those of everyone in the SJJ nation. It wasn't called flagrant and yes, it was an intentional foul - that's what their coach was telling them to do. In fact, Yodzis hasn't been called for one flagrant foul all season - so while you think he's a dirty player or complains about the calls against him or even instigates hard play - he's out there as a small/sometimes power forward - that's how they are supposed to play - aggressive to the basket and around it. I'm not going to argue with ignorance. Bialorucki...do you know the answer to that or just throwing gas on the fire? You have no idea because you don't know the kid and you don't follow the team. The answer is just one. And he hasn't been called for any intentional fouls during play - NONE. The kid is aggressive. He's a competitor who doesn't like to lose, he hussles to the ball and rim, and yeah, sometimes on blocks he gets called - it's all part of the game. What you don't see him do is get in other players faces, mouthing off, talking crap, and pulling attitude so common with some of the other teams' prima dona players... Take a look in the mirror boys...you've got a few of those on your teams who actually have been T'd for their behavior on the court.

The entire CCHS regular season game was a frustrating game for many of the SFS players - and he let his emotions get the better of him. He's a 16 year old junior (read that - true junior...not a 15 or 16 year old freshman that other teams might play or 16 year old sophomores) - he may not have the fully developed sense of self control that you seem to display by coming on here and blasting a good kid for being aggressive on the court. Watch the replay again, he was going for the foul - absolutely - and as he grabbed Norrils shoulder, Norrils twisted, making it appear to be something it completely wasn't. This kid has 10 times the maturity and self control over some of you posters.

So, aside from a couple of old men on here complaining about the play because their silk panties are riding up their crack, thinking they know more or see more than the refs on the court or the replays on BCSN - nobody is talking about this. Nobody talked about it that night either. Even the players involved knew it wasn't a clothesline.

But I suppose you'll see what you want...get your rocks off picking on a 16 year old kid who has more going for him that any of the losers bitchin' about this on this board... Sad life for you boys...

SFSan: No debate about the player or the player, but what is this "true junior" stuff. If he's still 16 he's a "young junior". If a junior is 17 today, he is a "true junior". In fact, anyone who is eligible to play according to OHSAA bylaws is "true". There may only be one player that I know of in the city league this season that might not earn the title "true" in front of their year in school. I do agree with you the time to end the debate over this topic is now.

Oh, I know parents hold their kids back - sometimes voluntarily, sometimes the schools hold them back... Funny - I remember graduating high school at 17 and turning 18 just a couple weeks before starting college. One of my own kids started college while still 17...and nobody was graduating early or skipping grades!!

Young junior it is, if that's what it's called these days. And agree - end of discussion - SJJ has more important stuff in front of them to worry about, and football season is only 5 months away!

Umm yea you do, go re-watch the regular season central/sfs game . Again like I said before everything is on the bcsn game. Also its kinda funny how you claim to be so mature and above this, then you take cheap shots at a kids age who plays for another team.

2quick, vball - I'm not defending anyone's alma mater - I was defending a kid. And read the note again, I recognize the CCHS/SFS game was an exception - guess that's the only one you watched all year, since you keep bringing it up. So, please don't let me defend your honorable school, big guy - step up to the plate and do a little of that yourself. I would imagine, if I had school pride or was proud of the kids in that program, that'd be something I'd consider. And you couldn't find a much better example of a student athlete for which to be proud. But some of us find a lack of balls an easier position to be in...pretty safe there over in the corner, huh?

And please, I never once claimed to be mature myself - so far from it, not even funny. I'm not above playing in the mud with all the other slingers...just saying those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones so readily unless they want to play in a rock fight!! I said that player has a load of maturity for his age...and was pointing out that he's the same age as most of the sophomores and even some freshman in the league. It seems to work when other's defend the immaturity of their underclassmen on threads, thought I'd try it out here to show he's no older than most of them.

Okay, you got me. I admit it - I'm only 9 years old. Sorry. But I never attacked any student from any other school - I never called out a school or individual - just saying some teams have kids that are much older, in lower grades, and we excuse their immature behavior because they haven't yet grown up. It was a point for comparison, never an attack.

And yes - wordly things are certainly fleeting...but I think it's mundi, not mundae!!! One thing we can finally agree on!!!
