Knight, so your saying Shelton will never be champion?

I'm not saying he will never be champion but every time they build him up a little, they just bury him again. I would love to see him get a shot at it but it would have to be on SD! He couldn't carry Raw.

They had a chance to really build Shelton into a major star when he cleanly beat Hunter multiple times a few years ago I believe it was.

Shelton has the ability to be a main event superstar but not the mic skills. He would really benefit from some type of manager.

Eric - They did push Shelton then since he beat basically everyone in Evolution and they gave him the IC title multiple times.
Krazie - Correct. If he had someone like a Bobby Heenan or Paul Heyman in his corner, they could have pushed him to the moon.

He also has never had a good enough gimmick either. When he was getting his initial push I thought a great angle for him would be a T.O like personality (which eventually became what MVP's initial gimmick was, however my idea for this was before MVP's debut). Instead he never really had a gimmick until that stupid one with his "mama". The gold standard thing is ok but personally I don't think he has the mic skills to ever be a great heel on his own and would benefit more from becoming a face (which is what he was during the point when he was the most over).KnightXC1 wrote: Eric - They did push Shelton then since he beat basically everyone in Evolution and they gave him the IC title multiple times.

But they never gave him the main event push he should have gotten after beating Hunter clean like he did.
That should have been a World Title run for him and I am surprised he never got it during that frame.

Ah what I wouldn't give to see Cena rap about someone again....thousands of times better than the "I'm here to fight!, I never back down!," promos he's been doing again and again for the last few years.osu45804 wrote: The Christian/Cena feud was pretty entertaining when it was the Rapper Cena....

He beat HHH clean Eric but then they had HHH destroy him a couple times and people didn't stay on the bandwagon for him. His personality is what holds him back.
Krazie, correct. His gimmick has never been something for the fans to get behind. When he was a face, he was just the athletic guy who did cool stuff and nothing more. As the "Gold Standard" they should be making more of an effort showcasing his skills as to why he is so good but they don't. Unless they overhaul him, he will be stuck where he is now for the rest of his career.

You must be over thinking it..think of it like a 16 yr old immature teenager. "You enjoyed it with just six guys."Leonardo wrote: Must be over my head or this medicine is clouding me brain.
