I can't find them anywhere. ABC use to be the spot back in the day where you could watch cartoons from 8am up until noon. What happen? Poor kids these days.

Yeah, but that was pre directv or dishnetwork days. Now they have Cartoon Network and Nicktoons.

But yeah, I miss watching the Looney Tunes, Smurfs and others on Saturday mornings.

You got a point there. The expansion of dish/cable television definitely has a lot to do with it. Still not the same though lol.

I had this conversation with a co-worker. I remember watching "Doug". Damn, that was a good cartoon. These days, they don't have the good cartoons like we did that's for sure.

My little girl loves Noggin and the Disney Channel. The old ones we had when we are kids (Smurfs/Gummi Bears/etc...) are long gone.

Recess, Doug, Power Rangers were all on ABC. Then you had the Nick shows(way too many to list from throughout the years), Then you had the pre-90s ones that were still good to watch. Man I remember watching cartoons even back when I was in high school there was still a couple good ones on.

^^^ I remember those days. I think I got up on a Saturday morning at around 7am and watched cartoons for about 4-5 hours on Saturdays. I also remember watching the Bugs Bunny Show (or something like that) which was on for about two hours or so itself. It had Bugs, Daffy, Sylvester and Tweety, Foghorn Leghorn (I say, I say hey dog. You got to keep you eye on the ball. Get it--- eye-ball, its a joke, son), Speedy Gonzalez and of course, The Road Runner.

The cartoons are classics. I'm sure they are scared to show a lot of them today due for PC reasons. I still feel they are basically ageless. Some of those Bugs Bunny cartoons they showed were from the 1940's and they were as relavant in the 1980's as they were when they came out.

I miss Garfield/Orson and the Farm and Bobby's World that was on before school when my mom was getting around for work, and I was eating frosted cornflakes.

Nostalgia is great sometimes. I haven't thought about these shows in years.

Actually the Banana Splits would have Hana Barbara cartoons on in between skits (often filmed on location at Kings Island). Hana Barbara cartoons---- now there are a lot of good cartoons under that umbrella.

There was a Golden Age of SMC and if you were lucky enought to remember SMC preview shows, then you indeed were part of the Gilded Age.

Remember these?

I go back a little more than most of you, but I would say that the cartoons today, (and although I'm 64 I still really like cartoons), they have to be good ones and in my world, the good ones were. The Roadrunner, Boris and Natasha, Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse, Deputy Dog, Huckleberry Hound. Tom and Jerry, Sylvester the Cat, Charlie Brown, Tweety Bird, Garfield, Mighty Mouse, Popeye, The Flintstones, Super Man and many, many others.

Foghorn Leghorn ws great:
"I say, I say, that boy is as quiet as a caterpillar in a moss patch, with his tennis shoes on... sneakers that is"

"I say, that boy is about as sharp as a bowling ball"

You're right. About fifteen years ago, Warner Bros. took a lot of cartoons out of circulation for PC reasons. I loved those old cartooons, but they made fun of everybody. Today's generation is too sensitive for all that.

I love Looney Tunes and still watch them to this day. I have a couple of multi-DVD sets of some of the great episodes. My Grandpa loved Wile E. Coyote/Roadrunner cartoons and we used to watch them together when he was in his 70's.

"What's Opera Doc" is probably my favorite episode. Friggin' classic.
