i look for this to be a real good game. I think Hillsdale can match Orrville's size, but athleticism??...what are the basketball wizards of Wayne county thinking?

Orville showed they can win games when it gets physical with the win at Clear Fork. Lesson learned. Riders win this one against the Falcons.

If i'm the 'Dale...i put cline (more physical) on Wasson. Let Crossen matchup with Pirman and help weakside on Wasson.

Really like their PG...quick and fearless.

They have the bodies to match-up with us....but i think Orrville has the X factor (Bolyard) and better depth.

I dont see this being an easy game, but the Riders get it done by 6-8 pts.

i think you are on it redrider1 - the one thing hillsdale lacks that orrville has is a consistent outside scorer. The falcons have three guys that can score inside, but none as talented as wasson. They also have very good guard play, but noone that can put it down like bolyard. Bolyard will be the difference.

Think the team that wins this is the favorite to beat either Smithville or Triway. Going to be a big momentum lift for whoever wins it.

Hope the refs dont put either team to the line 40+ times....let the kids decide this one.

If Hillsdale had hit 75 per cent of their foul shots it would have been over earlier w/o OT.

I agree with RedRider1. Whoever wins this game will be the favorite over the winner of the Triway/Smithville game.

That was your thought before it was mine... :)

This one makes me nervous. Hillsdale plays very crisp and each guy on the floor knows what to do with the ball. Everything they did seemed very fluid.

I'd like to think we have better athletes, but they seem to have the better collection of basketball players.

Guess we'll see.

If Wasson gets in foul trouble, Orrville could be in trouble. I think this will be a game where Pirman will have to play a very good game with his height being something that will be tested, for once.

Pirman will have to contain Cline. Wasson on Crossen will hopefully keep him out of foul trouble. Cline initiates contacts more than Crossen.

Max had a terrible first half against Black River but played much better in the 2nd half.

What's a "very good game" for him? I dont know that we've seen that yet. No time like the present to score 10-15 points.

I expect Hillsdale will try to isolate Bolyard on D, just like they did against McKean.

At least each team from here on out will have 1/2 the gym to themselves, so we won't have to worry about teams' fans being forced to sit in 1/4 the gym.

Don't forget Hoobler. He should help on Cline. He only has a week of practice under his belt and conditioning may be an issue, but he won't get pushed around.

this game could end up being the best game of the tourney. I think the best way to defend orrville is to score points, because they are nearly unstoppable when they are on the run in the open floor. If hillsdale can consistently score against orrville's defense and slow the game down they'll have a chance. They also need to force orrville's role players to shoot from outside. With that said orrville is the more athletic team, but maybe not the better basketball team. Hillsdale will come out firing as I'm sure their coaches are telling them nobody believes they can hang with orrville. I think it will be a close tough game. I'm going with hillsdale 62-61.

I was asked by RedRider1 for my analysis. Check his site, as I'm sure he'll have it up sometime soon, before tipoff. I did not and still have not read his prediction, yet. I went back and forth, back and forth with my predictions... and at one point in my analysis, I knowingly contradicted myself. Haha! It just goes to show that anybody's guess is as good as anybody else's for tonight. But for me, it's hard to go against the best team. :-\

Basically:
1) Get Wasson in foul trouble. If Wasson or Bolyard gets in foul trouble, the game shifts dramatically. But if they both can play more than 20 minutes, I like their chances.
2) Force somebody for Hillsdale not named Paullin to shoot a 3-pointer.
3) Get Wasson in foul trouble.
4) Besancon/Groves/Pirman MUST make an impact in the mid-to-long range offensive game.
5) Get Wasson in foul trouble.

If Wasson only has 1 foul in the 1st half and 2 fouls in the first 3 quarters, Orrville wins by double digits, IMO. But who knows... all this could be thrown out the window if Hillsdale goes Triangle-and-Two and rebounds well... then the Falcons could take home the win. But don't be fooled - Bolyard will still "get his".

I still feel kind of dumb trying to predict this game. There are lots of ways it could go, and lots of players that could be the game-changer... I should have just said "This should be a great game" and predicted a score. Haha! Oh, one more thing - I think Orrville has a much deeper bench. lol. Good luck to both teams.

And yes, I know I talked myself in circles. Sorry. :)

Let it be known that I think both RR1 and I think Hillsdale will need to play a box-and-1 (on Bolyard) with a double-team on Wasson (leaving Miller unguarded for the most part), OR a triange-and-2 (on Bolyard and Wasson). Either of these would force somebody else to beat Hillsdale, plus eliminate any mismatches that may occur. This would also make our "matchup" analysis a moot point. :)

Yes. I like reading the game analyses. I will stick with my prediction: we win!
