Roy Ashburn arrested after leaving a gay bar with a male in the car with him.

Ashburn has voted against every gay rights measure the senate has voted upon, according to Project Vote Smart.

Yet another politician who preaches family values does the opposite with drunken driving and leaving a known gay bar.

Should all the hypocrites be voted out? (it does not matter which party)

Seriously?

If you voted out every hypocrite from Congress there wouldn't be anyone left in government.

While that may be appealing (the no government part) it's not realistic; and jumping all over these guys on THIS issue is stupid, unless you're going to start holding every rep who ever went the opposite way in life on something he voted responsible in the same way.

In this case, the guy is an idiot for drinking and driving more than anything else. He put others at risk.

The rest...just more hyperbole in a world that's overflowing with it.

After reading this along with the trials and tribulations of Mark Foley and Larry Craig, one could deduce that Barney Frank joined the wrong party.

Well he should be given a pass because of his hard work for family values in the past. You know, like Harry Reid was given a pass on his racist remarks because of his hard work for civil rights in the past.

Yeah, he looks like an ass ripper. They shouldn't have voted in a "Guy" like this in the first place.

But you, I, and all the other posters on this site are responsible for voting for dumbass people like this. They don't get appointed.

Everyone pisses and moans about our elected officials, but we are the ones that voted them in.

Wake up, and pay attention to who you vote for. My guess is that less than 1/2 of the people(of voting age) on this site even voted in the last election. I think, and could be wrong (but I doubt it), that only about 50% of the population voted in the last presidential election, and it's around 35% in mid-term elections.

But everyone wants a drink out of the government well.

California recently had a referendum on gay rights. It was assholes like him who helped get it defeated.

Fairwoodking loves when the will of the people vote in his favor. Smoking bans for instance. But they are assholes when they vote against his beliefs.

I always love these threads.

The attacking party: "See, that other side is full of hypocrites!"

The defending party: "So? Look, here are examples of how you guys are hypocrites, too!"

He just tried to save you from going to hell is all!

(I'm kidding)

I seriously just don't understand why if you are going to be a hypocrite about something why you make it gay rights when you obviously are leaning towards that side of the fence anyway.

I'm not always right, but I am right in these two cases. The smoking ban in Ohio was a good idea. And denying gay rights in California was a very bad idea. The CA vote was heavily influenced by the Mormon Church who campaigned heavily against it.

I say we discriminate against them for discriminating against others!

Nothing like stirring up some intolerance to teach those bigots how to be tolerant!

I am sure everyone who voted on these two issues thought they were right as well. I wouldn't call them assholes for voting for what they thought was right.

What is so good about denying people their human rights?

I'd honestly like to have hashed out what exactly our "human rights" are.

It's really very simple. Gays want the same rights as straights. In many places in this country, those rights are denied to gays and lesbians. We're not asking for anything special; we just want to be treated the same.

The article says he voted the way he did on the gay issues because it was the way his constituents wanted him to vote.

Gays have the same right as straights. Any gay man can marry a woman, just like any straight man. Any gay woman cam marry a man, just like any straight woman. They don't want the same rights. They want their own rights.
