Memphis done. That helps the other bubble teams if they can take care of business.

UAB now has a fantastic chance to make the dance as an at large (assuming they dont just win it). Memphis vs UAB was gonna be a play in game, and UAB now just has to beat two teams they should be able to handle.

Here is my breakdown as of 3:30 PM today
14 Automatic Bids Sealed - Northern Iowa, Butler, Old Dominion, St. Mary's, Cornell, Wofford, North Texas, Oakland, Siena, Montana, Murray State, ETSU, Robert Morris, Winthrop.
17 Automatic Bids Remaining (favorites listed) - Kentucky, Duke, Ohio State, Pittsburgh, Kansas, New Mexico, Utah State, Temple, UTEP, Kent State, UCSB, Lehigh, Vermont, Sam Houston State, Morgan State, Jackson State.
27 At-Large Bids All But Guaranteed - Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, Florida State, Clemson, Maryland, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Purdue, Syracuse, Georgetown, Villanova, West Virginia, Notre Dame, Louisville, Marquette, Kansas State, Baylor, Texas A&M, Missouri, Oklahoma State, Texas, BYU, Xavier, Richmond, Gonzaga.
12 Remaining Bubble Teams For 7 Remaining Spots
Mississippi - Plays winner of Tennessee/LSU
Mississippi State - Plays winner of Florida/Auburn
Florida - vs Auburn (SEC round 1)
Georgia Tech - vs North Carolina (ACC RD1)
Washington - vs Oregon State (P10 Quarterfinals)
Cincinnati - vs West Virginia (BE Quarterfinals)
UNLV - vs Utah (MWC Quarterfinals)
San Diego State - vs Colorado State (MWC Quarterfinals)
Illinois - vs Wisconsin (B10 Quarterfinals)
Rhode Island - vs St. Louis (A10 Quarterfinals)
Dayton - vs Xavier (A10 Quarterfinals)
UAB - vs Southern Miss (C-USA Quarterfinals)
Bubble Teams All But Eliminated
Memphis - Lost to Houston (C-USA Quarterfinals)
Seton Hall - Lost to Notre Dame (BE round 2)
Analysis - I'd say it's fair to say Memphis and Seton Hall are done as they can't play anymore. Cincinnati needs to win tonight before we put them even with the other 11 teams. So basically, it's 11 teams fighting for 7 spots, as long as the conference tournament winners all come from either the group of the 17 favorites or the 27 at-large teams.

UAB should probably start playing if they want in. They're down 13-2 early to Southern Miss.

Wake Forest is still in, but wow, they are getting KILLED in Greensboro against last place Miami.
Tennessee is allowing a horrible LSU team to stay with them early as well.
UAB down 9, middle 1st half.

If I was Wake I would be sweating, that's five in a row they've lost, including getting stomped by a Miami team missing one of their best players.

UAB falls in embarrassing fashion to Southern Mississippi.
The top side of that bracket now has Southern Miss. and Houston with a trip to the finals.
Tulsa and Marshall play tonight, the winner likely gets UTEP, and the winner of that is almost assured to win Conference USA. All of these bubble teams have to pray that UTEP continues to win.
I'd personally love to see Marshall with Hassan Whiteside win the tournament. He is a one and done guy the nation deserves to see.

I bet Wake is still safe. I personally would have them as a very borderline team, but I think the committee will put more stock in going 9-7 in a thoroughly average ACC than they should. They have 3 solid OOC wins over Xavier, Gonzaga, and Richmond too.
If other bubble teams were stepping up they might be in trouble, but the way things are going losing down the stretch doesn't do anything to separate them from the pack in a negative way.

I agree. The bubble is getting weaker. Wake has struggled of late, but they have 5 very quality wins. Illinois is another team who is in if they beat Wisconsin. They would be in the same boat as Wake. Not the overall win number, but the quality wins to separate themselves.
I think the SEC is looking good for 5 teams now. The Atlantic 10 and Mountain West might also benefit with some teams still alive. Very disappointing day for Conference USA.

I'd say that we can add Minnesota to the bubble, even though they are pretty weak. Since they seem to be likely to face Michigan State tomorrow, they could definitely be right there if they can win that.
Florida up on Auburn, but the Tigers still in it, nearing halftime.
Georgia Tech has risen up and taken a lead after being down big to UNC, early 2nd half.
Oklahoma State is getting absolutely blown out by Kansas State.
Keep an eye on the Tulsa/Marshall winner. They will play UTEP. Win that game, and they are the odds on favorite to steal an NCAA bid.

Georgia Tech, Florida and Minnesota all get needed wins.
Tulsa beats Marshall. They likely get UTEP, and the winner of that likely wins C-USA.
Cincinnati and Arizona State are playing currently.
UNLV and Washington will tip off later tonight.

Ha, thanks. I start a new job next week, and am going to miss the early sessions of the NCAA Tourney on Thursday and Friday! It kills me! Anyway, I've devoted this weekend to pretty much nothing but basketball, so I'll be here a lot for the next 72 hours!

I know how you feel. I was able to watch nearly every moment of the NCAA Tournament last year, including the early games on Thursday and Friday. It was great! This year, it's not going to happen. I'll be at work thinking about the tournament all afternoon both days, but I probably won't even be able to get updates. It's going to be torturous.Azubuike24 wrote: Ha, thanks.
