Check-in and share your story if you'd like.

I recently parted ways w/ someone who was a very good friend. Back in early January things started going downhill, and had just snowballed ever since. Everytime we tried to fix things it seemed as if something happened to make it go bad again. Worst part is, we work together. So even though our friendship is over, we have to see each other everyday. It obviously makes it much harder to put it behind you.

The last six months of my life have been a living hell. I was in a car accident in August of this past year, and it damn near cost me my life. I suffered significant injuries, and actually died once in the ER. My life was starting to come together finally. I was out of the Air Force a year to the day of my accident. I was adjusting to the "civilian life" just fine, was about to start school, and I'll be damned if I didn't almost kill myself. Finally had a job, a girl (who left me because she couldn't "deal" with my situation), and was about to start school.

I've learned though that life is too short to take for granted. I have lost a lot of friends since my accident because they were friends that I always thought would be there for me. When I had my accident, the ones I thought that would be there - actually weren't. But life is too precious to hold grudges. Everything in life happens for a reason, and I believe that 100%.

Sorry, but shut the fuck up. You're in America, your life doesn't suck.

Really? My life doesn't suck persay, but it's in a shitty situation. I don't think you're in any position to judge anyone. Let's hear your story, because obviously your life sucks or you wouldn't be on here telling everyone how theirs doesn't.

It's often said that with the comforts of living in a leading nation come as many problems to go with them, so just because someone doesn't live in a third-world nation does not mean they do not experience the agonies associated.

As for the topic itself, I'm still unemployed and now missing bill payments, the church I have been part of planting is teetering near collapse, and my hero is on his death bed, a mere shell of his former self. I have many blessings and many problems. Such is the life lived in America.

You have great value both in the marketplace and as a person. Although right now you are being tested mightily, you will land on your feet in a successful manner. I am confident of that.

My life doesn't suck. I'm a typical broke college kid, who doesn't own shit, living on $30 food budget per week. Yea, I've got struggles--everybody does--but to say that your life "sucks" is preposterous.

Do you sleep in a warm bed? Do you have access to clean drinking water? Do you eat semi-regularly?

Then your life is better than a large portion of the world.

I certainly don't think that these things can be overlooked as blessings, but then we simply have to ask questions like these:

Can someone's life suck if they have any blessings?

Which are more important, physical blessings or emotional ones?

Might those who have no clean water or warm bed have considerably more family love than many in the US? If so, might they consider themselves more lucky ... more "fortunate" ... than those US residents?

A life which "sucks" is mostly a subjective concept, and I'd say that the person living the life in question, having given it serious reflection, would be the best to evaluate whether or not a life sucks.

While I don't agree with how he presented it I generally agree with what Sage is saying.

Long term agreeing with Sage's lifestyle choices can be dangerous to your health. FYI!

No offense, but the shitty situation you are in is of your own doing (if I remember correctly you were drinking the night of your accident). I hope that you are doing well and that you have changed your life for the better (which seems you have by your posting).

Sage - I have three brothers and two parents alive right now. If tomorrow, they were all travelling to see me and got hit by a semi and died, would I be able to claim my life sucks?

I would still have a job, warm bed, and enough money to get by. Actually, I would have more money than before they died. I would also still claim my life sucks and who could argue?
