In terms of the NHL only (and not the Olympics) I see a few:

1. Pens-Caps. Will Ovechkin get his chance at a cup this year? Will Cindy get another?
2. Who is for real in the West? The Sharks are leading, but they've always always always choked in the playoffs. Chicago has the youth and two guys playing on one line that could be international superstars (Toews-Kane).
3. Will the Red Wings miss the playoffs? After being fixtures in the postseason for so many years, they are precariously close to missing out. A playoff season without Lidstrom et al would be weird.

Immediate future is the trade deadline in a few days. Pens got a defensement.

Then of course how will teams deal with the time off. Some were hot...some were cold. Will have to see how teams pick up after the break.

Then..of course..in the east it is.....Will broduer be able to rebound from being bad? Will their defensive system be able to continue and clamp down teams.

Will Ovechkin and Crosby go down to the wire for the goals title? Will the Pens be able to get by Devils, who got a big time scorer a few weeks ago and also a Caps team who has offense but seems to be better defensively.

Take it to the bank right now, the Detroit Red Wings will be in the playoffs. They finally have everyone healthy coming back from the Olympic break and will go on a big run to lock up a playoff spot.

Ovi-Sid will be a big deal for the scoring title and something the NHL should market to its fullest extent. But, Bettman is a moron and will ruin it somehow.
