Who's in?

How it works:

We'll see how many people want to play...then we'll randomly draw to see the order we pick. In round one, each person picks one player who they think will score the most points throughout the whole tourney. Same goes for round 2, 3, 4 and so on. It will be 8 rounds, in total.

The Huddler who's 8 players score the most points throughout the tournament, wins.

Anyone know if there's an "official" name for this game? I just chose "pick your players" as a generic name til I can find out if there's an actual name...my friends and I do this every year, it's fun as hell. So who's in?

We'll start the drafting right after the brackets are released...it'll go all the way til thursday morning at 10 am. If someone who says they'll play doesn't pick a player for 6 hours, I will pick the "next best" player to the best of my abilities for them.

Im in, but if we get a lot of people who are in you wont ever get 6 rounds in before the noon tip-off Thursday. You would have to limit the amount of time between picks to less than 6 hrs. If someones pick is coming up have them PM you, or just post, a list of players they want and we take the top player remaining from their group.

Yeah I was thinking about that. I say I limit it to 15 people; I was originally gonna limit it to 25 people because thats how many we do it with, but it would be impossible to get it done w/ that many people.

And I like your idea with the list and everyone picks a consensus pick if someone doesn't pick...how bout 3 hour time limit, except for like midnight through 8 am?

that works for me. I mean its your show so you have the last call. But 15 would work well. I think

Those are the 15.

If a huddler wants to join who I know will play for sure and is respected around here I will allow them to join, we can go a little over 15.

Well, when the toruney is selected...however if the order is drawn before hand we could start choosing players we know will be in the field. I cant imagine guys on bubble teams or mid majors going before the 2nd round of this. But thats just a suggestion to make sure we are able to get all rounds in.

For instance, a guy like Wall, Collins, Turner etc are all in the tourney. While a guy like McCamey isnt, but probably wouldnt be picked until the second round at the earliest.

I thought about that..but you also have to consider seeding for example a team like Ohio State (Turner)...they could end up a 2 seed, where he would probably go top 3...or they could end up a 4 seed and he would go probably top 5.

Also, say someone like Vazquez from Maryland..what if Maryland wins out including the ACC tourney, and they move up to a 4 seed...he would go a lot higher than if we chose right now (where Maryland is probably a 6 seed right now).

So i say we just wait til Sunday night to start it...I do appreciate the suggestions though.

I'll ask you this: Do you think we should go up to 8 rounds? In my group I do w/ my friends, there's like 27 of us, so 6 rounds=162 players.
If we did 6 rounds for 15 people, that's only 90 players. I am thinking about making it 8 rounds, so we can get 120 players.
