Ball game! Michigan State 53, Purdue 44. Ohio State is a win away from a Big Ten title.

Well the Big 10 does score higher when they play out of conference teams. Look at Wisconsin. ;)

What should the Buckeyes be ranked nationally this week?

Probably about the same. I don't think they will get no higher than #7 in both polls.

Every conference has ugly games. For example, currently airing...

Florida State 21
Clemson 19

Halftime.

Clemson shooting 23%, Florida State shooting 33%.

Just saying.

Not a fan of half court sets and good defense?

No one ever said Big Ten basketball was sexy, but it is proving to be quite effective this year.

Yeah thats why the big 10 usually does good come tourny time...Because believe it or not teams all D up during tourney time. And the Big10 is used to grind it out hard fought games, not games where its "Ok you scored, now its my turn"

There are two of the better teams defensively, in the country. Both play hard nosed man to man, and play it physically. Its the second time around they play..they know eachother very well. Well, when you have this, this is the kind of game that develops. Call it Big Ten basketball if you like...but its also the kind of basketball thats needed to advance come NCAA. At some point, all teams are forced to play half court..so you better be able to defend on defense, and execute on offense.

The Florida State Clemson game is ugly because neither team can shoot the basketball outside of the paint.

The reason the Purdue Michigan State game was so low scoring was because the officials allow defenders to be so aggressive on guards. They deter offense with such suffocating defense 28+ feet from the basket. In leagues like the big twelve, acc, big east officials don't allow defenders to be so aggressive on the ball. They really call the hand checks and blocking fouls when players can't get fully in front of their man.

It is that kind of basketball that I grew up playing, and I am just sick of. It feels more like football on hardwood with every inch of the floor being battled for. Personal preference is a a more open movement type game. What Wisconsin, Purdue, Illinois do defensively thwarts all evidence of that. I am just not a fan. It is a style I just don't like watching.
