Not sure how it is in other urban environments, but in Manhattan it seems that cyclist have no regard for traffic laws whatsoever. Now, I'm not saying I never disobey the rules as a pedestrian, but I do try to make sure I pay attention to my surroundings.

Cyclists just don't care. Red light. What red light?

Case in point. Today I got slammed into by a cyclist who went through a light. Mind you this was a busy intersection with a number of people crossing the street at the time. (I'm surprised I was the only one he hit).

Most are couriers, on a tight schedule/deadline that you see barreling through people/traffic with little or no regard for those around them. It's actually a dangerous profession, not one I'd find myself attracted to. Not an excuse for them but more of an explanation, you're probably aware of them.

I could understand if it was a courier. But nope, it was just a d-bag on a bike.

Try dodging Amish on bikes @ 5:00 am in the morning with 6" of snow on the ground during a snow storm on a back country road that has yet to be plowed.
