Same as last night. I DVR'd it, I watch the singer, state my opinion prior to hearing the judges comments. Here we go...
1. Todrick Hall: Since You've Been Gone (Kelly Clarkson) Well, he's "made it his own" from the start. Give him props for originality (although I like the orig better), but he's got a very good voice. Not bad at all. (Judges liked him, but he went TOO far with it)
2. Aaron Kelly: Here Comes Goodbye (Rascal Flatts) The kids got a very nice voice. Seems much more mature than he is. I'm not a country fan, but I liked it. Great confidence for one so young. (Judges thought he was lacking confidence but loved him)
3. Jermaine Sellers: Get Here (Oleda Adams) He definitely has a great voice, but not sure this song was right for him. Missed a few notes on some of the runs. Mid range he's pretty good, but the high notes are not his friend on this one. Not bad, but not great. (Judges concur that it wasn't good)
4. Tim Urban: Apologize (One Republic) Nice effort. Didn't really do much for me but it was a passable replication of the original. Does seem to have a good voice, but I didn't like the song. (Simon hated it)
5. Joe Munoz: You and I Both (Jason Moraz?) Don't know the song, but he is doing a good job. Good stage presence. A couple of pitchy spots, but not bad. (Everyone liked it but Simon)
6. Tyler Grady: American Woman (Guess Who) Love the song, think he may have OVER sung it a bit. I think he's relying a bit too much on his "hot factor" and not enough on his talent. (Judges totally agreed)
7. Lee Delwyze: Chasing Cars (Snow Patrol?) Don't know the song, but there were several pitch issues. He has a unique kind of voice, but the chorus was not his friend. Just okay. (Judges agreed except for Simon?)
8. John Park: God Bless The Child His voice is good, but this was much too big a song for him. He isn't really a jazz kind of guy. It was a very good effort, but he tried a little too hard. (Judges agree that he has a good voice, but not the right song)
9.Michael Lynche: With This Love (Maroon 5) He's got a great voice. Did a very good job on the song. Not terribly exciting, but a better job than most. (Other judges liked it, but Simon wasn't excited about it either)
10. Alex Lambert: What a Wonderful World (James Morrison?) Wow, this went bad quickly. He's trying way too hard and having pitch issues. I have to say this could be the worst of the night (unless #12 is worse).
(Judges totally agree)
11. Casey James: Heaven (Bryan Adams) Sorry, but he's hot! I don't think this was the right song, but let's see how it goes. Nope, I don't like it much. I think he is playing to the women more than performing. It wasn't bad, just not a good song choice for him. (Judges disagreed. Simon thought it was great. Guess I'm just cynical)
12. Andrew Garcia : Sugar We're Goin Down (Fallout Boy) Great back story. I hope he does really well. I don't know the song, but he's got a great voice and has good stage presence. I thought he did a good job. (Judges didn't care too much for it.)
So, let's discuss.
