"Telly (the whale) took off really fast in the tank and he came back, shot up in the air, grabbed the trainer by the waist and started thrashing (her) around," Biniak said.

FREE WILLY!!!!

Seriously this is too bad, but it is the risk you run when you try to keep dangerous animals in captivity and try to interact humans with them. Im shocked it doesnt happen more often (at zoos, circuses, etc.)

Those people are pretty good at what they do, but you're still dealing with some dangerous animals.

Now they are saying the trainer slipped or fell into the tank and drowned:
http://www.news4jax.com/news/22660616/detail.html
ORLANDO, Fla. -- A killer whale killed a SeaWorld Orlando trainer who slipped or fell in its tank Wednesday, drowning her in front of a horrified audience.

Dan Brown, president of the Orlando park, said the trainer was one of the park's most experienced.

He would not answer questions about whether it happened during a performance, but an audience member said a show was just starting.

The whale "took off really fast in the tank, and then he came back, shot up in the air, grabbed the trainer by the waist and started thrashing around, and one of her shoes flew off," Victoria Biniak told WKMG-TV.

Jim Solomons of the Orlando County Sheriff's Office, said the trainer slipped or fell into the whale's tank, which seemed to contradict Biniak's description.

"This appears to be an accidental death, a tragic death," said Solomons.
so why the heck would some one say the whale lept out of the water, grabbed the trainer by the waist and thrashed her around if that actually didn't happen, interesting....

Just got word that the head trainer is from Toledo, and she is 40 (same age as the woman killed). My ex gf knows her and it looks like she was the one killed. Although they arent announcing which trainer it was yet.

I doubt the chick drowned. How would she not be able to swim???

Plus, dont those whales sense fear in their trainers and help them? At least they do in Free Willy!

Oh I don't think the trainer drowned without the help of the whale, I am sure at some point the whale grabbed her and pulled her under just want account of what went down really happened?

I doubt one of their most experience trainers simply drowned after falling into the tank.

The whale messed her up, just a tragic incident that happens in life.

I didnt mean wrong in that sense. Just out of the ordinary. Wrong in the sense that the whale played a part in the death.

No way a trainer drowns in a tank (hell I doubt she even SLIPS) without the help of the whale.
