Who is going to watch the game? As I'm watching the pre-game show, they keep refering back to the 1980 Miracle On Ice. I was even a blink in my mother's eye when the game took place. But, for those who watched the U.S. beat the Soviet Union, do you think this game matches the hype of the 1980 game?

Not even close. Why would USA vs Canada be anything like USA vs Soviet Union? I'd say they keep referring to it b/c it's the 30th anniversary maybe?

We have a thread for this in the Pro Sports section. Either way, go USA!

Team USA came out like they were shot out of a cannon.

lol no. USA vs Russia had the political ramifications. It was a MUCH bigger upset (than this would be). It was in the knock-out round....which this isnt. If we lose, it matters, but we still advance for a chance at a medal.

If all nhl games were like this one the league would be a hit.

I'm not a hockey fan at all, but this is pretty exciting. It seems to be much more fast paced than NHL. Is there alot of rule differences?

I don't think there's a TON -- automatic icing, crease violations, cut down on the fighting. But generally I think the fast pace is because this is a virtual all-star game. Team Canada is stacked.

We are seriously being outclassed. Canada is so much better than us even a toddler could tell. That being said somehow its tied.

Its like we aren't even really playing hockey, we are just getting in the way of their passes 95% of the time.

Better passes, c'mon guys.

The line of Callahan-Drury-Backes is giving Canada fits.

What helps the US is a forecheck something Canada rarely uses.
