Nice crowd last night for Malverns last visit to the old gym at Strasburg. Close game most of the way, but Malvern dominated the fourth quarter with good pressure and great fastbreak ball movement to win by more than 10. Hornets have to be regretting their performance Saturday at TCC. The league title was certainly within grasp.

After watching the game last night.....malvern def. played better down the stretch. They were more aggressive and made plays. As for the Bonifant kid he sat out the whole 2nd quarter with 2 fouls and could nver get into the flow...he was doubled evertime and the young tigers struggled to make shots after he would kick it out. Thank goodness this was not the last game in their gym.......They will perform better against Garaway.....

Seems like they always struggle against Malvern for some reason...just like Malvern struggles with Hiland....and its odd how Strasburg playes well against Hiland.......Basketballs a funny game...

Nice Breakdown Dukeblue. I wondered if the Hiland players in attendance walked out wondering how they lost to Strasburg yet handled Malvern with ease????

I heard the old gym will be destroyed.......thats why they are having Talking Up the Last Game in the Gym for the Girls game tonight against Garaway....and Monday the Boys play Garaway as well. They are bring back all the former players to be honored one last time in the gym before it is taken down this summer.

will there be another practice gym made as well (so 10-15 different teams aren't using the same gym)?

After the high school and Jr. High Wings are done they will have 2 full size gyms.....One gym is the Elem. Gym/ Jr. High gym.....thats already done ......and then they will have a new High School Gym as well. Jr High gym hold 300 people.....and HS hold.....1500....i think........that only bad thing about the new gym is that Strasbug loses the student section behind the Hoop......it will look alot like Ridgewood and Tuslaws Gyms..

Yeah, I think we can say that Garaway just didn't want it. No FG's for Paul Honigford in the game vs. Strasburg? Something is not right there. You have to get the big guy his touches.

Good luck to all IVC teams (except Strasburg :) ) in the tourny.

or... everyone except Strasburg and then Malvern or TCC should they win the district semi's, right? I know we've got business to take care of first.

That floor, for whatever reason, was worth at least 10 points to the Tigers and there have been games where I thought it was closer to 20. I have never heard a Hiland kid say that they love to play there. Most of them hated it. So that's part of the advantage right there. I think our teams have gone in there with the idea of winning by at least 1 and getting the heck out of town. Sometimes they got the heck out of town with a loss. It'll be interesting how much of that home field advantage gets transferred to the new gym.

I felt the same way when Perry Reese Jr CC was opened and the old Hawks Nest didnt get used for varsity games. But the pros far outweighed the cons and a new atmosphere/tradition began to develope. Alot more people can come to the games, I was on the waiting list for season tickets from '86-'98 and I was at like 112th on the list most of those years. Now I've had tickets since '99 for the whole family, something to look forward to in the winter.
