You must be too young to remember the Stepien years
I know very well of the Stepien years, but the Cavs never got to "Clipper level"

Are you serious? The Stepien years are the worst 3 years of ownership of any NBA franchise. The Cavs became the laughing stock of the NBA. They had bad attendance, 4 coaches in one season, and the NBA had to institute the James Worthy rule and monitor Cavs' trades. Are you sure you know of the Stepien years.

Also, as I realize that I'm posting this on a Dan Gilbert thread, I apologize. Today's Cavs have no resemblance to the Cavs of the early 80's.

I'm not talking about 3 year stretches. I'm talking about the history of both teams. In the historical retrospect of basketball, the Clippers have been a far worse franchise over the years than the Cavaliers. The Cavs at least had the Miracle of Richfield years and the Daugherty/Price years (which would've resulted in a championship or two if Jordan was not in the league), the Clippers have nothing. Those three years you talk about with Stepien are pretty much how the entire history of the Los Angeles Clippers is. Hell they are the only team in the NBA that doesn't have their own arena!

I'll agree with you if your talking overall history of both teams. I was just pointing out the Cavs did reach and sink below "Clipper level" for a period of time. Fair enough??

Hills you are correct and Krazies could not possibly have been around during the Stepien reign of terror.

When an owner is so incompetant that the League has to instate a "Stepien rule" to end utter stupidity by an owner, you know that there was a real problem.

Oh I wasn't alive but I've been a Cavs fan my entire life so I've immersed myself in Cavaliers history. I'm well aware of Stepien's boneheaded hirings and firings, bad signings, and consecutive trades of the #1 pick. (Hell the Cavs had Chuck Daly as coach at one point AND could've had James Worthy. I wonder if LA would've still won 5 titles without Worthy?)

"utter stupidity", Pete Franklin couldn't have said it any better.
