i dont see it as just those things, it has to be a large combo or just the overall styling of said combo.
i wear low-cut chucks outside of work, been know to rock a kangol skully cap, and have a few zip up hoodies.
things that make me not a hipster/scenester
dont wear skinny jeans w/ said chucks
my zip up hoodies actually fit me or are a little big because i hate tight clothes, i wouldnt look good in a Youth Large size hoodie.
dont listen to hipster music
dont weigh 108 lbs
hell i resemble snoop more, rock my kakhi's with a cuff and a crease(welll cuff anyway, no crease )

I listen to some hipster music, like hipster brew (PBR), but I don't dress at all like a hipster (jeans and a t-shirt from a wrestling tournament usually).
Basically, I'm not cool enough to be a hipster. Plus I don't smoke and I look silly in most hats.
Edit: Also, can someone explain to me why beards and mustaches are now considered "ironic"?

This is correct. You can wear or enjoy a few things that are typical "hipster" things without being a hipster. Being a hipster is all about how they package it together. I wear graphic t's (almost exclusively now), have an iphone, own a Mac, and I actually visit the Starbucks in that video every weekday but I am far from being a hipster.DESCENTdmc wrote: i dont see it as just those things, it has to be a large combo or just the overall styling of said combo.

Those guys have no idea what an actual hipster is.
Go live in Brooklyn, as i did for a year, and then they'll have a real idea.
Or move to Portland, the absolute hipster capital of the world.
And, zip-up hoodies aren't even "real" hipster gear, anymore.
American Apparel and their zip-up hoodies are lame, according to most i talk to.
And, no such thing as "hipster music" anyways, not sure what that means. Yea, maybe you're talking about "indie" music, but i know lots and lots of people who listen to said indie music, and are as far as you can get from being a "hipster," they just like good music.
And, "real" hipsters don't go to Starbucks, they hang out at the independent coffee shops in town.

hipster music is whatever music is the hip and cool thing to listen to at that given time. i love indie/post punk/real emo, but im no hipster. this happens with "scenesters" within the hardcore scene too, they jock whatever band is super cool to listen to at that time frame. one band that seems to be huge with hipsters now is Passion Pit.cbus4life wrote: Those guys have no idea what an actual hipster is.

I thought the song was funny. I do own a cabbie style hat. Plaid even. I guess I'd be the Grandpa hipster according to the BINGO card. Really I'm just a nerd and been wearing that hat since before they were cool. (hip)
