Hile over Bergman by a score of 1-0. Someone must have forgotten to give Bergman the memo that Hile was head and tails above everyone in that weight class.

That's Hiles style, don't be decieved. He always does enough to win.

That's why he will choke at the big stage.

That strategy usually backfires in the end.fan63 wrote: That's Hiles style, don't be decieved. He always does enough to win.

Choke? State placer and never folds under pressure, unlike a few guys up there I know. Bergman is very good, but don't get ahead of yourself. If you understand wrestling, you would see Hile has a style, while not flashy, gets results. It's how the sport is wrestled in college.

Hey I know nothing about hiles. He's obviously good. But defensive wrestlers usually don't get it done against the best. I wish him well but when you don't put guys away it only takes 1 mistake to end the dream. Don't get caught.

Point taken. That's true for most at this level. We had a kid in Indiana that never won by more than a point or two regardless of who it was. In the 70's and early 80's, you had to be a finalist to advance. He always did and got 2nd at state. It drove me nuts because it was always down to the wire. Best wishes to you guys, just pulling for favorites.

It was a weekend of highs and lows. The SBC had a great showing with Oak Harbor taking first, Clyde third and Perkins fourth. Oak Harbors, Miller and Witt dominated. Jake Cramer was very impressive. Lexington's Campbell, Gambucci should place at state. Shelby's heavy weight is a beast.
As for the lows.
The referee's were horrible. The good thing about them was they were consistant, consistantly HORRIBLE for every team. Hopefully they won't get assigned a district.
Good Luck to the Shelby qualifiers next week.

Bergman did a good job of keeping it close but don't be fooled by a 1-0 score in that they could wrestle 10 times and Hile is likely to win all of them. Bergman stalled much of the match including the entire 3rd period on the bottom to keep it close.Tinkertrain wrote: Hile over Bergman by a score of 1-0. Stalling on bottom when down by 1? Interesting. Thats a strategy I never tried. I wonder how many matches are won that way.Blodg wrote:Bergman did a good job of keeping it close but don't be fooled by a 1-0 score in that they could wrestle 10 times and Hile is likely to win all of them. Well Deter right or wrong sometimes kids go out against a top level wrestler with no intention of winning but just trying to keep it close. Ever watch any of Brent Metcalf from Iowa matches in college wrestling? Perfect example.Deter wrote:

OK. Good way to lose. A loss is a loss.
