UC is closing at noon.
Xavier is closed all day.
Miami closed the satellite campuses.
And College of Mt. St. Joe's is cancelled.

It's been coming down good since about 10am here in Columbus.... moments visibility was like 20-30 yards. I'd say we got about at least 3 inches so far

In licking county, we have had about 2-3 inches so far, and still coming down. I only dislike snow on the roads, because I don't have a 4x4 anymore. Other than the driving, I'm down with snow lol.

Why would a school with almost all of their students on or near campus close for a few inches of snow?

It's the same reason OU never closes the Athens Campus, as people can generally still walk, and at night all the lots are open to drive.

The percentage of commuter students at OSU may be small, but with the number of students that attend OSU, that actual number of commuter students is pretty high and comparable to other schools. Hell Miami is closed and most of their students live on campus, so that's not really a viable excuse.

En route to my class today the stocked full CABS bus I rode nearly slid into an oncoming car. I decided to just walk home in the Hoth-like conditions. The real reason OSU rarely closes is because of the quarter system. The higher ups freak out that missing one class is going to ruin the entire quarter's schedule so they won't do it unless FEMA trucks are parked on High St.

Using this logic YSU would be closed all the time. But they never close because they want me to die on the way to class.

I can see this one too. We're on quarters down here as well.

But, I'm also used to the snow being from NE Ohio so unless I can't walk I don't see a problem in being open... as long as commuters are given fair treatment by the profs in weather like that I see no problem in being open.

It's Youngstown, there doesn't have to be any logic to it, plus if the logic was explained the stupidity of it would probably cause your head to explode

This is f'ing ridiculous. I have never seen so much snow on the ground down here in Cincinnati.

No classes tomorrow for Xavier either I bet.

30+ Car pile-up on 71 just North of Columbus! like 6 semis involved...what a surprise. Some of those guys think they own the road in bad weather.
