And none of them will ever be as good as their fathers. Carter might be the closest of the bunch (if he ever gets his grades in order).

Yes it does.
It doesn't once someone has signed. It matters to get offers, but he lucked out and got a 4-5 star offer. Now it doesn't mean shit. Hawk was a 3 star. That really mattered didn't it?

Not only that, but JL was either a 2 or 3 star from Minnesota, and look how he ended up. And you have to remember, Eddie George was NOT highly recruited at all after 4 years of prep school. He decided to stay a 5th year at Fork Union and received interest after rushing for a bunch of yards that year. But if he had went to anormal HS where he could have only played 4 years, he would have ended up at a much smaller school. Who knows, maybe this kid is only a year or two away from becoming much better than a 2* rating would indicate. Coaching plays a big part in developing athletes. Let's not judge the kid before he even makes it to his first practice.

SQ.......so true, who cares if they only offered because he is Archie's son. After what Archie has done and meant to the university. But this kid can hold his own. I agree I think he will do all he can to prove himself. I personally like the signing.

That's part of Ohio State football......the legacies.

We could be like Florida, Bama, etc and sign 30 kids only to drop others.

Everyone knows the stories of the 2-3 stars that made themselves All Americans and NFL worthy. However, it's a fact that more 5 stars succeed than 3 stars. Plus, a small percentage of players are labeled 5 stars and a large percentage are labeled 3 stars, so of course some of those guys are going to exceed expectations.

I understand that you don't need all 5 star players, but there is a reason that OSU recruits 4-5 stars if possible, and it's because they are better players with more potential.

You rarely see a 2* player become a big difference maker at a top program like OSU.

there were others here saying this was a dumb signing and the kid can't play.... why don't you hold off on that assumption until you see him get in camp, get in a COLLEGE weightroom and conditioning program....

I agree with that. I don't mind the signing for a few reasons, one because he comes from a great HS program where he knows hard work and is likely a good kid. Secondly, because of his dad. Not that OSU owes him anything, but you like to see OSU take care of their own. Thirdly, he wants to be a Buckeye. He was willing to walk on and turn down scholarship offers.

Isnt this the second son of Archie to play for Buckeyes.

Was older son Andre Griffin, who now coaches RBs at Saginaw Valley State in Michigan for former Capital HC Jim Collins on scholarship?
