I said "For some reason they won't use facts and reasoning to dispute the policies they don't like such as the health care bill which is disappointing because there are plenty of real reasons not to like it and none of them have anything to do with Obama trying to make America a communist nation."

I guess I could have been clearer in that they do have real, fact based objections but they don't promote them enough.

Most of it was probably just the right/left news displaying what they wanted but both parties should discourage that type of behavior. When Beck goes off on how the Liberals want to kill grandma the right should be all "I don't know where Mr.Beck gets his information but what we're opposing is the increased bureaucratic control over personal decisions, not some death panel" just like the left should be all "I have no idea where he got the idea that we think that" when Olberman suggests that the Repubs hate homeless people or something.

A majority of Americans opposed/oppose the stimulus package.
A majority of Americans oppose health care reform.
A majority of Americans oppose cap & steal.
A majority of Americans oppose turning to "green" technologies over drilling for oil/natural gas.
A majority of Americans oppose putting terrorists on trial in US courtrooms.
A majority of Americans oppose granting Miranda rights to terrorists.

In just about every poll of late, a vast majority of Americans believe the country is HEADED IN THE WRONG DIRECTION.

I'd say it's fair to say that most Americans oppose Obama's policies -- at least the major stuff he hopes to accomplish.

It depends,as always, on the polls you read. The last poll I read on who the American people would support if the Presidential Election were held right now had Obama with an 11% lead over the closest Republican rival and this is after all the negative reactions to anything and everything that Prersident Obama has proposed. I think, as I stated before, that if the economy steadies itself and job opportunities increase in the next two years, Obama will be back in the White House and all the naysayers will get to start all over and hope for a different result for themselves in 2016. Don't hold your breath.

People were saying similar things when Carter was in office. We all know how that turned out.

People continue to equate conservative with Republican.(another 'flaw" in liberal thinking). As it turns out, the Republicans are the party who have embraced conservative philosophy in the past, and conservatives look to them to provide political leadership and power. As stewards of such, Republican leadership has failed miserably. Democrats were elected, not so much because people believe in their policies, but beause no hopeful alternative agenda was offered by Republicans. Something/someone needs to happen to get people excited about taking the country back. Resistance to democratic socialistic policies is not enough.As much as some conservatives would love to have Ron Paul...he is too old. The energy will have to come from youth, and it will have to be positive in tone and hope.....a Contract with America II, so to speak.
Until that happens...Obama will continue having " lead over his closest Republican rival"....even as America rejects his liberal policies.

Unfortunately it didn't take long for the cowards in the GOP to genuflect to the leftist press and start spending, sounding, and acting like Democrats.

If there is a Contract with America II as you suggest, I have a hunch that no matter who initiates and writes it, the damned thing won't be worth the paper it's written on either.

I would not say the idea of giving a tax break AFTER you've hired someone would be considered a sound idea by most business people. Whether SOME economists might find it to be okay, I can't believe anyone with an ounce of common sense would think it's a good idea.

You simply don't put out all the capital it takes to hire an employee just to get a tax break down the line. Not if you want to stay in business for very long.

The biggest problem with employers right now is that they simply don't have a clue what Obama and this Congress are going to do both short and long term with regard to taxes. That uncertainty is causing gridlock.

Ron Paul is too old. But I haven't seen anyone with the same mindset stepping up to the plate.

Fox hated him and MSNBC couldn't stand him either.

For some reason, fiscal hawks are not liked by the media...right or left.

I think a paleoconservative would be very well received. Just my humble opinion.

That is true..as both a small business man and as an investor.

True. The one saving grace about a Republican-controlled Congress is that although they unfortunately spent like Dems, at least businesses felt reasonably assured that taxes were not likely to change...at least dramatically.

With the current bunch running the show, spending continues at a much more rapid pace and taxation is not a matter of if but a matter of when and how much.

New businesses are being stymied mainly because banks are very leary in lending. Secondly, the economy is very shaky for any new business to thrive in. Less employed equals less discretionary spending by the public, which is the life blood of any new business. Many others are under employed.

To suggest that "new taxes are coming" is quite laughable. That has not been mentioned by the president...in fact, he has done everything so far to the contrary regarding helping new businesses.

The old saying, "you listen to both sides and the truth can be found somewhere in the middle" is basically how I view politics. Too far to the left or right is not a good thing. I generally agree with politicians that are somewhere in the middle.
