Stephen King has been a favorite of mine since I read Skeleton Crew and Christine in either 6th or 7th grade.

Hands down.
McCarthy should be banned from ever writing books again after The Road.
I just cannot understand the hype with that book. It is literally 280 pages of a man walking around with his child. I am not exaggerating when I say there is only 10 pages of interaction with other characters. Absolutely nothing happens in that book and there is no pay off at all.

Tom Clancy growing up.
Loved the Dark Tower series by Stephen King.
I'm also an alternate history nut, so I enjoyed the Southern Victory series and Worldwar/ Colonization series by Harry Turtledove.
