I'm sure that's all that Larry said to him. I am sure the management team under Larry and above Kevin chewed his ass out.

Good show, but even if it is a hit, I don't see how it'll make it past the first season. Like any worker would be able to see a 'new hire' with a cameraman following him around and not realize it's this show.

Can't wait for the Hooters one for many reasons.

It also kinda ticked me off to see the regional manager giving the company President responses like he was giving.
No crap! If I was the prez, i'da been like bow down bitch!
It's not so much that, he was just talking to him like he was an employee under him, not trying to explain why she was so overworked. He just talked to him so "this is just how it is". That would get you reprimanded with the quickness with me.
its tough to say though, we dont hear everything that was said between them. sometimes the way the show is edited makes it seem one way during a 3 minute clip that might have last 10-15 minutes in reality.

I'm more surprised that people don't know their CEO's face.

Just saw the Hooters preview. I think the Reindeer Games douche gets fired on the show, he almost has to be to save face for the company. People already complain about Hooters objectifying women, but something like that without him getting fired on the spot would be an absolute PR disaster.

You're right, concealing the executives identity isn't that hard no entry-level worker knows the corporate executives unless we're talking Apple or Microsoft, but explaining the cameras is tricky.

I was in a meeting where a project team I was on got it pretty hard. I was just an associate accountant and the Director of DFAS at the time, Zack Gaddy came in and gave us a nice professional stern talking to. After he left the room, the site management came in and absolutely went off on us. Even if he did talk to him more, I can say with 100% certainty that he had to sit through meetings with more levels of management on the subject.

Well he's the COO so he's probably second in command, and a lot of the regional and site managers knew him. The entry-level guys probably wouldn't know him unless they had been with WM for awhile.

yeah i dont doubt that. that is pretty much the normal reaction when the big boss has a problem like that. i wouldnt be suprised though if he had wanted to hire other people, but the managers over him wouldnt allow it to keep costs down since that is what corporate was emphasizing.

The fact that he hasn't made himself visible to the workers and toured each facility numerous times speaks poorly of how he's handled things.

The only thing I wonder about is that there is probably like 100 Jaclyns out there at various landfills and sites across the country do they all get raises? Or do they just give her one for good PR when really cost cutting is straining a lot of their people.

This is true. He's COO which means he's in charge of operations so he should be in the facilities fairly often.

He also said he was the President, so he answers to the BOD and not much else.

from looking at their website, they have over a thousand facilities in the US and Canada. might not be the easiest task to see them all.

I'm good friends with a Rumpke and waste companies have so many employees and different sites it's just hard to meet and see everyone in companies like that. I do know though that Rumpke has more of an employee oriented approach being family owned and operated.

What I don't get is how he didn't know of the policy that docks the workers two minutes for every minute theyre late. Do they not have employee handbooks or just not use them? Either way, it looks very bad on WM's part.

Because the policy was that they have a 30 minute lunch. The site manager made that policy on his own without telling anyone else.

...which goes in hand with not using the employee handbook. and looks very bad on WM's part.

Eh, I don't think it makes them look that bad. They had a rouge site manager and they reprimanded him for it. With thousands of sites that isn't unheard of.

Larry made over 3 million in compensation for 2008.

Only David Steiner, CEO made more.

Any respectable company would fire him, no questions asked.. not to say WM didn't though b/c we don't know.
