I am a bit of an amateur weather nut, and I have been doing some reading about this storm this afternoon. Most models have the low pressure tracking directly over Ohio with anywhere from 6-12 inches north of I-70 and 3-6 south. At this point it appears that the bulk of the heaviest snow will be in NW Ohio, but a slight SE shift in the track could bring the heavier snows to central Ohio.
The National Weather Service in Northern Indiana even mentioned the possibility of the system undergoing "bombogenesis", which is the rapid deepening of low pressure and as a result, a much more intense storm. If this happens we would be looking at potential blizzard conditions. Not saying this will happen, but when a NWS office brings it up, it gets my attention.
I think it would be wise for people in northern Ohio to keep a close eye on this one...it could end up being a doozy.

Going to be worst than the last even if we don't get the 12-15 in we got last time. The wind and the bitterly cold temps will almost make it Blizzard like.
Early call I would go 6-10 for most but more near Toledo areas.

I'm still trying to get a good read on what Zanesville should expect from this, but so far nothing.

Some people think Jesus is the creator, so if that is the case he is to blame for everything.believer wrote:Not sure what Jesus has to do with your snow situation but 5 to 8 inches is nothing.darbypitcher22 wrote: Jesus christ.... 5-8" already on the ground here with more to follow? looks like the next time we're going outside to practice is when we get off the bus in Vero in 3 weeks

High Roller, I would make an early call of 3-5. Hard to say who changes to rain for a few and who gets dryslotted for a time.

These are just my early guesses, amounts could fluctuate. But remember this storm is going to a whole lot colder and a whole lot windier.

If they said 6 and we got 11 last time, why are you so into believing their hard prediction this time?UA5straightin2008 wrote:if you look at the top, below where it says weather alarm, it says snow occuring feb 8 feb 9 feb 10 total amount to be 9.5 inchesLJ wrote:That says 6-13UA5straightin2008 wrote: http://www.accuweather.com/us/oh/columbus/43085/forecast.asp?partner=accuweather&traveler=1&zipChg=1&metric=0

im saying last time they underpredicted, so maybe this time they underpredicted again, meaning the guess of 5-7 earlier seems to be low
is that ok?

Let me end this by saying that Accuweather alarm is a joke. It is based on 10:1 ratios no matter the snow storm. Yes I'am a weather nerd.

Maybe they horribly overpredicted? Listen, Jym Gahnal is a close family friend, but I tell him that his profession is a fraud all the time. I don't put too much stock in hard predictions. Smart bunch of people and a great profession, but it's not like an accountant where they are paid to be precise.UA5straightin2008 wrote: im saying last time they underpredicted, so maybe this time they underpredicted again, meaning the guess of 5-7 earlier seems to be low
