I am turning 21 in 3 weeks...

What is the earliest I can get my license?

I live out of ohio for school, and I am home this weekend, so I would like to go get it this weekend if possible...

Anyone know the earliest possible?

I looked online but struggled in finding an answer...

I think it's a month before you turn 21 but I'm not positive.

Do you need to renew it? I thought it gets renewed every four years. If you got it at 16 you wouldn't be due again until 20 , 24.

Your underage license is from whenever you get it till 21.

What does that mean? Your birthday is still on it and I bet it's still valid to drive with for four years.

Who cares what color and picture are on there? The date determines your eligibility to enter establishments and drink. The license is still valid.

What the hell are you talking about?

The state of Ohio has separate ID's for under 21 and over 21. Your under 21 driver's license is valid from whenever you get it, be it 16, 18 or 20, until your 21st birthday.

Under 21 licenses are not valid for people over the age of 21

What am I talking about???

I am not talking about anything. I am asking. I asked the following.

"Do you need to renew it? I thought it gets renewed every four years. If you got it at 16 you wouldn't be due again until 20 , 24."

I have never had an underage license.

Can you read? I asked???

Thank you for the expanded answer. I now understand why the question was asked.

A driver's license will normally expire on the fourth birthday after issuance. There is an exception for drivers between the ages of 16 and less than 21.A driver license can be renewed anytime prior to its expiration date
http://www.bmv.ohio.gov/dl_renewal_dl.stm

To the OP apparently this is actually the law
However, if an Ohio License is renewed more than 90 days prior to its normal expiration date, the license will expire on the customer's fourth birthday (three years plus the customer's upcoming birthday) from the date of issuance.
