What is your top ten list of all time best NES games? Leave the Mario Brothers off though we all know they are numbers 1-3. So lets see what other games from the great NES 80s days you can think of!
I always thought Bases Loaded was weak, I perfered SNK All-Stars.

Tecmo Super Bowl should be #1.
I enjoyed Tecmo NBA basketball (a little easy).
Other than that:
Contra
Ninja Gaiden
Double Dragon
I enjoyed Blades of Steel but it was also pretty easy. Couldn't get into the baseball games. Bases Loaded was really slow and RBI was again pretty easy to beat.

Yeah, I edited mine after listing the wrong Mega Man. I was thinking of 2 and posted 3. MM2 soundtrack was a watershed moment.

Zelda 2 has a soft spot in my heart because when I was younger after I beat the game, I'd regularly speed run the "new game +" deal where you'd start with Link as powerful as he was at the conclusion of the game. It was great just tearing through those early dungeons and killing bosses with two hits.
I didn't just play Faxanadu...I played THE SHIT out of Faxanadu. That game might have been my #1 NES game I owned for a good 18 months. Kind of had a Tolkien feel to it with all the grotesque looking critters.

Also, I am a bit of a nerd, but I had the highest score recorded at Ducktales. I submitted it to Nintendo Power. I found a glitch in the game....haha

Zelda 2 also holds a special place in my heart ... I whined and whined that I wanted it for Christmas, and my poor grandma shlepped all over NYC and couldn't find it. She wound up driving 2 hours into upstate New York and buying it for $100, which was unheard of for a game back then.
Needless to say, I appreciated it, and played that game like crazy. The game pissed my off until Link learned the downward thrust, then I would cruise!
