I like Judge Mathis because of his background and how he seems to try and work with people (unless, of course, they tick him off or lie to him or both.) I used to like Judge Judy but she screams too much for my liking anymore. I suppose a close second to Judge Mathis would be Judge Millan. She seems to be truly concerned about the people that come before her and her decisions generally seem to be equitable. Being an old timer, I must admit that the "original" judge of this assortment, Judge Wapner, was also very good and much more judge-like than any of the current crop!

Judge Mazz on the show Street Court. It is by far the most ghetto hilbilly show on tv.

I was disappointed when I found out how these shows actually work. The people are recruited from small claims courts across the country with the promise that, win or lose, both sides would receive their money. So people have nothing to lose--no matter what happens on the show, they get paid anyway. That's why you see people doing completely irrational things--nothing is actually on the line for most of them.
