Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. in South Bend. The Irish are coming off a 27-22 defeat at the hands of the Pittsburgh Panthers at Heinz Field. Uconn is coming off their bye week and was last seen losing a close 47-45 shootout to the Cincinnati Bearcats.

This is Senior Day at Notre Dame Stadium. Last year the Irish fell to heavy underdog Syracuse on Senior Day. Uconn isn't nearly as bad as Syracuse was last season and they have been playing inspired football since the murder of their teammate Jasper Howard.

I would not be shocked to see Notre Dame lose this one at home. I hope not...especially for the Seniors. I want to see them go out winners. You would have to think that a loss here spells doom for Charlie Weis (if the ND administration hasn't already made up their minds).

Who ya' got?

ND wins big, UConn has played every loss close, but the season is wearing on them and after losing some talent (particularly Donald Brown) from last year there is just too much of a talent differential.

Connecticut is two close losses away from being 6-3. I like the Huskies to finally get a break and beat a downtrodden Irish team.

If Notre Dame loses this game, there is no way Charlie Weis has a job December 1st.

This will probably end up being my fist Notre Dame game experience, so I hope they don't blew this! :)

I was at Air Force 2 years ago, I was at Syracuse lat year, I ended the trend of bad losses with Nevada this year, and I will be at this game, they better not screw this up.

This is the game that may save Charlie. He will go to a bowl game, they may win it if it's obscure enough, and Notre Dame will make a lot of money because God knows (no pun intended) that the Irish always travel well. I'm really not a Notre Dame fan but I can almost see George Gipp raising up from his death bed to root them to a victory vs. Connecticut. At the very least, the ghost of Knute Rockne descending into the Notre Dame pre-game huddle and giving a stirring pep talk to the varsity 11! Or Connecticut by 35.

I think ND wins this easily. This will be their last win of the year IMO.

I do not know what I think about this game, but I will say 35-24 Irish.

ND's record in November over the last five years.

2009: 0-2
2008: 1-4
2007: 2-2
2006: 3-1
2005: 4-0

Overall: 10-9

That alone has me nervous.

I will be at this game and honestly, I don't know what to expect from ND. IMO, Charlie is done because he has failed to land a BCS bowl game this year.

Who knows..I'm more interested in the speculation on who the new coach will be. How sad is that?

^^^my guess would be Jim Harbaugh--not only has he proven himself as an excellent football coach at Stanford,he's done so with kids that Notre Dame could admit(based on academic standards)--I don't know that Brian Kelly could ...also,I'll bet Harbaugh would get him team so jacked to play tsun!!!

The more I'm reading and hearing, the more I'm beginnig to like the idea of Harbaugh in South Bend. Who knows if he'd even be interested, but it sure would be a nice change to have someone coaching these college kids with emotion rather than the smug look and runny nose we're currently dealing with.

While I want Notre Dame to run away with this one...the game scares me a lot more than it did when I first saw the 2009 schedule. I figured this would be a cake walk win. But now, UConn is hungry. And they've come close to pulling the upset twice this season. I would not be surprised in the least if UConn pulls out the win.

It's a sad situation when teams like UConn are not a guaranteed win for the Irish.

Harbaugh would be great!

We know he can beat USC, and he would have to LOVE to play UofM every year. The two (in theory) biggest games on ND schedule every year. I like it.

If people are reluctant to take Gruden because Weis was an NFL coach and that route didn't work too well, why are people so anxious for a Stanford guy after the last Stanford guy was far, far worse? I'm not saying I agree or disagree with hiring either of those two guys, I just think that it's interesting to view it in that context.

Personally, I'd throw mountains of money at Bob Stoops before I went with anyone else not named Urban Meyer.

The ONLY comparison you can make between Willingham and Harbaugh is that they have coached at the same school, and that's pretty much where it ends. Harbaugh has proven to be a MUCH better recruiter, and he has beaten USC 2 out of 3 years. He's young, energetic, and motivates his players. What's not to like?

I would agree. He would be on the top of my list if I were an ND fan (outside of UM, of course).
