lol did i say he was wrong or did i pcik out the part where he made it seem like NBA players were all about money while hockey players could care less. Ilya kovalchuk turned down a 10yr/102mil deal. Atlanta traded him to New Jersey so he could play for a contender this year. And theres a list of players in all major sports who turn down contracts or opt out of contracts to take less money playing for a contender. Some players care about winning others are all abotu money, every sport has quite a few of each

How many NBA players have restructered their contract or agreed to take less money than their market value in order to keep a team together? I'm not saying it doesn't happen in the NBA, heck it happens in the NFL but it's common place in the NHL.

Steve Nash is probably the hardest working PG in today's NBA. But for those 45 seconds when you're on the ice you go all out and do it again.

Pat - I grant you that some guys work hard every possession because they have to due their team not being good or to make things happen for others. However, I think hockey is much more demanding than basketball, that's all.

Basketball players need greater endurance. Hockey players are essentially sprinting for a short period of time and then resting. NBA starters play 35+ minutes a game. NHL starters play 20 mins a game. So in a way, its a different kind of demand required of the two types of athletes.

True but basletball players don't have a frozen rock hard piece of rubber flying at them and taking hits from other players coming at them around 15mph on skates with very little padding on.pkebker wrote: Basketball players need greater endurance. Basketball players are put under the gun, no doubt about it but hockey players are not only going all out in the short shifts they play, they're also taking a beating.

Forwards only avergae around 20mins a night. Defenceman on the other hand are the huge 26+min a night guys.pkebker wrote: Basketball players need greater endurance.
