Saw a thread on men getting uniforms for SLOW pitch SOFTball.
Never understood this. Don't girls play softball?

I don't fuck with it cuz the rootword of Softball is SOFT.

And SLOW pitch? What the fuck. You can't even play a girls sport correctly? Then why the hell are you even playing.

Not to mention... BIG BALLs.

Smells like a fag sport to me. Add in the dudes who act like they're major leaguers, while playing SOFTball, and its a sport for cornballs.

Srsly. Get a clue, fellahs.

These are probably the same dudes who shave their chest and wear girls jeans tho.

I agree with Sage on this one..

Some of these guys are hardcore over that crap. The same people who couldn't make it on their little league/high school baseball teams so they make up for it when they're 35.

Two things come to mind:

Most facilities won't insure old dudes playing organized hardball

Old dudes just want to relieve themselves of the domestic responsibilty and its associates, even if it's for a short time.

Other than that, yeah, I can still hit a slider,bring it on.

I don't agree with Sage, but I agree that some people take it too serious. I mean I'm competitive and all, however, I play it for fun. The guys who take it too serious make me SMH..

I actually do play baseball in college(d3 small time), but I play slowpitch in summers. It's a good time and is a lot easier going than baseball.

Also, slow pitch doesn't hurt my arm as much as baseball does which is a million thumbs up.

I can see Karen gettin all amped for his local softball game.

Probably has to stretch for 6 hours and take 3 Aleve before game time so he doesn't have a hernia when he turns 1st base to try to stretch a blooper into left field into a double.

Probably is all like LET'S PLAY LIKe CHAMPIONS TODAY GUYS!!!!!! And takes it all seriously. Probably takes real pride in batting lead off too.

Hahahahaha. Karen Lotz, trying to go ham in SOFTball. Smh.

I'm just going to ignore the rest of post because I know you just want to get further into this shit. :D

But, the thing about hardball is that the speed of the game and the danger of the ball coming off a bat are 10 fold compared to softball. You hear about coaches dying from getting it from the balls. And I don't care how old the guys are, they can hit it hard enough to seriously hurt them. And the reaction time isn't what it used to be for these guys.

Not saying softball doesn't have that risk, but getting hit by a softball and a baseball is very different.

They won't insure leagues which = organization which = excusable for the old lady thus you have softball:rolleyes:

No I don't knit (or play softball) but I know a lot of guys who do just to get out and tip a twelver with the fellas. I do laugh at those assholes who take it seriously, don't carry a beer when on base or at least polish off 8 during the course of a game though.

I was a USSSA and ASA Softball umpire for over 20 years and have officiated State level tournaments and other contests involving highly rated teams throughout Ohio and elsewhere, and I beg to disagree with your simplistic and incorrect analysis of the athletic abilities of the people who choose to compete in softball. It reminds me of the people who don't think it's worthy of athletic praise unless it's football. Bad football is no more athletic than any other sport. i would challenge anyone who has never played softball to take a bat up to the plate and try to hit an unlimited arc pitch.These boys (and girls) who play real softball are tremendous athletes, many of whom have played other sports and have been highly successful. Anyway, why can't a sport be for fun? Does every sport have to include pain and anguish and have the "win one for the Gipper" mentality? I've offered anyone in our school who has never run cross-country but is constantly bad mouthing our athletes, the chance to come out and run with us and see how they do. I have as yet, not had any takers. Every sport is hard if you ate serious about it and the high level softball players are very serious about it and are very good at it. They excel for the same reason great athletes in other sport excel...(with apologies to Allen Iverson) they PRACTICE. For those who criticize without rationale, I say come on out and try REAL high level competitive softball and see what you think.
